Microwave Potato Chips

This idea really makes me want my own mandoline, and having a mandoline would have been nice for  making those pickles in the post below this one. I’m trying not to buy anything new for my kitchen, since we’re getting married next year, and we need items to put on our registry. I’m getting all these ideas though. We need a new set of nice dishes, bath towels, and I also would like the pasta maker attachment that goes with my Kitchen Aid mixer. :) If you own a good knife that will work too though, you just have to make sure that you cut the potatoes really thin.

I read online how you can make a potato chip in the microwave. If you search for how to make these suckers online, some websites will say to microwave at 3 minutes on high, then 3 minutes on medium, and 3 minutes on low. It should turn out looking like this. See above picture.

Our  microwave doesn’t have medium, high or low settings. Something else to put on our wedding registry??? Probably not… ;) I first tested this recipe going every 3 minutes and I took them out to look at them until they were done. The first batch came out ok, although they were missing salt. The second time, I tried brushing the potatoes with olive oil, and then salting them. After 6 minutes, these were already brown, and really really crispy. Someday, I will master the art of making a potato chip in the microwave. Even though, they’re fun to make,  it is a lot easier to just go and buy them in the store. :) If you’re looking for a healthier potato chip try these.
