Shamrock Shake Recipe

Ingredients (2 Servings)

3 cups good quality vanilla ice cream (I used Edy’s 1/2 the fat Vanilla Ice cream with no sugar added)
1 3/4 cups 1% milk
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
Green food coloring if desired

1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until completely thick and smooth. Pour into glasses and serve!


I love Mcdonald’s in March. Their fish fillet sandwiches go on sale because of Lent and they have Shamrock shakes out. Here is a copy cat recipe of their Shamrock shakes. Next time, I’d use only 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract instead of half. The 1/2 teaspoon made the peppermint flavor seem a bit too strong. I also used a low fat ice cream and 1 % milk to make these. For garnish use a can of whipped cream and some shamrock sprinkles.

    Oh… I’m going to have to try this one! Lj loves some mint! We’re still trying to master mint tea. Last time we made it, it was too much like toothpaste. :\

    I agree on the peppermint extract. I had a drop, and I mean a DROP, on my finger and without thinking I licked it. I couldn’t taste right for 30 minutes because it was so strong.

    A drop did that? Wow! I should try just adding a drop next time cause 1/4 teaspoon sounds like it would be too much.
