This cake lives up to it’s title. The bananas make it super moist. and delicious. One piece of cake is really rich. On food.com the recipe had over 1,000 reviews. I always consider the number of reviews a recipe has, because then you know it’s good! That is, if it has a lot of reviews…
To cut back on the fat I used half the amount of butter the recipe called for and replaced the other half with apple sauce. I’m wondering what it would be like if a person got rid of the butter completely and just used apple sauce instead? I also used 1% milk in place of butter milk and added a touch of lemon juice to the milk, since I didn’t have any buttermilk at the time.

Best Ever Banana Cake
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups bananas
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 1/8 cups sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cups butter
- 1 8oz package cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

| Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. | |

| In a small bowl, mix mashed banana with the lemon juice; set aside. | |
