Air Fryer Bread Bowls made with an easy recipe for 2 Ingredient dough. Serve them with chili or your favorite soup.

This is my last and final recipe of 2019! Can you believe that tomorrow is already 2020? I sure as heck can’t. These air fried bread bowls are made with the famous 2 ingredient dough recipe. If you’re wondering what the 2 ingredients are for 2 ingredient dough recipe they are self-rising flour and nonfat plain Greek yogurt. Yep, I still make recipes with that and I finally tried making bread bowls with that recipe! They are about the size of a regular muffin tin but a little bit larger and you can fill them with soup or chili perfect lunch. Kind of the perfect individual-sized portioned bread bowl.

    Air Fryer Bread Bowls

My favorite chili is from The Pioneer Woman and all I do differently is use a 96% lean ground beef instead of 80/20. There are other recipes on my blog for Slow Cooker Turkey chili that you can use or my Zero Point Turkey Chili recipe. I’m a beef and been kind of chili girl and I don’t like a lot extra veggies in my chili, but corn.

I can not wait to make these bread bowls with my recipe for Slow Cooker Chicken Queso Chili, that is linked below if you want to find the recipe. 🙂

How to make Bread Bowls with Chili

    1. Place the ground beef in a large pot and throw in the garlic. Cook over medium heat until browned. Drain off the excess fat, and then pour in the tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and cayenne. Stir together well, cover, and then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. If the mixture becomes overly dry, add ½ cup water at a time as needed.
    2. After an hour, place the masa harina in a small bowl. Add ½ cup water and stir together with a fork. Dump the masa mixture into the chili. Stir together well, and then taste and adjust the seasonings. Add more masa paste and/or water to get the chili to your preferred consistency, or to add more corn flavor. Add the beans and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve with shredded Cheddar, chopped onions, tortilla chips and lime wedges.
    3. In a bowl combine the self rising flour and Greek Yogurt. Form the dough into a simple ball shape and place it in your air fryer. Divide the dough into 4 equal balls.
    4. Spray the dough with some cooking spray and set the air fryer to 350 degrees and cook the dough for 15 minutes.
    5. When the Dough is finished cooking and the bread has cooled off a bit, scoop out the insides a bread bowl. Ladle some chili on top and top it with scallions and extra cheese. Enjoy!

Tips for Air Fried Bread Bowls

I added my favorite chili recipe too this recipe but of course, you can always use your favorite recipe for chili.

What is self-rising flour?  Self-rising flour is a combination of baking powder and all-purpose flour. The reason why they call it self-rising flour is because it does not need any yeast. The baking powder helps the dough rise. I see so many people adding yeast to self-rising flour and I just laugh a little because it does nothing to help the dough if there’s baking powder in it already.

How big are the bread bowls?   If you use ½ cup of self-rising flour and ½ cup of Greek yogurt they are about the size of a regular muffin. Of course, if you want a bigger bread bowl use more flour and Greek Yogurt.
