I’ve been a Gouda virgin up until today. I can’t believe I waited this long to try this cheese! Where have you been all my life?!
Gouda cheese was kind of expensive. 6.99 a pound at my grocery store, but I’m glad I bought it. The cheese harmonizes well with bacon and apple and now I want to try it in mac and cheese. Gouda and bacon and mac in mac and cheese. Oh my!
This week, I tried to make my own ham sandwich. On top of that sandwich, I put ham, low fat swiss cheese, a tomato, spinach, and some mayo with chipotle pepper in it. The bread was just awful. Sarah Lee 45 Calorie bread it was. The bread was good with a patty melt but not a normal sandwich. Bleh. When, I want a a good sandwich I don’t want crappy bread like that. I want a good piece of bread, like a French baguette and Italian bread. Weight Watcher’s has a recipe for sandwiches on their page. Divide a French baguette into 5 equal portions and it comes out to be 3 or 4 points. Pretty amazing. Thank god, I can eat sandwiches again!Print
- French Baguette (cut into 5 equal pieces)
- 1 oz of light Gouda Cheese
- 4 thinly sliced apples
- 3 strips of cooked bacon
- On the bottom piece of bread lay the cheese, bacon, and apple slices. Top with the other slice of bread.
