This post is preparing for a post for a bar recipe tomorrow. The main grocery store in town that I shop at didn't have any dulce de leche, they used to but stopped carrying it. Scratch that, so I decided to make my own. You want to know how easy this is to make? All you need are jars, a can of sweetened condensed milk, and a crock pot. This takes about 8 hours to make in my crock pot, used an 8 quart slow cooker. You can start to tell when the sweetened condensed milk is starting to turn into dulce de leche in the crock pot. Just lift the lid and you will be able to see that in the water it has changed color. It will be a golden brown color.
Dulce de leche is the best caramel sauce. You can lick the whole entire jar of it clean just like a person goes crazy over Nutella. You don't really even need a recipe for this but I put the directions on the bottom of this post anyway.

I've never tried using the fat free sweetened condensed milk before to make that, but I'm sure it would work. Sorry, not sure how to figure out the points for this.

Looks delicious. What would the points be for this? Also, would the fat free condensed milk work too? Thanks!
Jenna says
Thanks for letting me know about water. Forgot to add it to the recipe.

No water in the slow cooker? Just the jars straight in?
