By using your air fryer you can achieve a super crispy kale chip that’s a healthier alternative to regular deep-fried potato chips. Great for low carb diets.

    Air fryer Kale Chips

If you don’t have an air fryer yet then what are you waiting for? It’s 2020 now. I have 2 air fryers. One I just recently got for Christmas is the Ninja Foodi Grill which is a 5 in 1 cooking appliance that can grill, dehydrate, roast, bake, and air fry. The other one is my Power XL air fryer which I use on a daily basis. I haven’t been able to test the Ninja Foodi Grill yet but I plan on doing that soon and making recipes with it.

    What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. It is a downsized version of the convection oven. Are they worth it? Totally! I recommend them to anyone who asks me for them.

    Is air fried food healthy?

When you compare air fried food to deep-fried food it is much healthier because there is hardly any oil used at all. The only oil I use is from my Pam cooking spray. I spray only the food once or twice because most air fryer baskets are nonstick. If you are concerned about using aerosol sprays for the environment or your health buy a Misto Brushed Aluminum Oil Sprayer can from Amazon and fill that with your favorite oil.

What are the Best Large Size Air Fryers?

If you are researching air fryers and looking to buy the best ones out there on the market I have tried and tested 2 different ones before. If you want to be able to cook more food for your family at once then get an air fryer with a large basket such as 5.3 quarts. Look for ones that say nonstick on them and has multiple program settings. Anything smaller than 5.3 quarts is great for 1 or 2 people living together.

How to make Air Fryer Kale Chips

    1. Set the temperature on your air fryer to 350 degrees. Preheat if your manufacturer’s instructions call for that.
    2. In a bowl, add the chopped kale and olive oil. Gently massage the kale so that kale gets evenly coated with the oil. See my tips for air fryer kale.
    3. Transfer the kale to your air fryer basket.
    4. Season with salt and pepper.
    5. Air Fry for 5 to 7 minutes or until the kale has turned lightly browned.
    6. Serve immediately.

    Tips for Air Fryer Kale

A lot of grocery stores these days carry bags of already chopped kale. Aldi does. It is much faster than having to rip off the leaves from the stem.

How do you massage kale? Place the chopped up kale in a bowl large enough to fit it all. Add the oil and use your hands to gently knead the leaves so they’re all covered in the oil. It’s kind of like kneading bread dough.

Kale:  If you don’t like kale, spinach would be another good green that would work in this soup.
