It takes only 3 easy steps to make these peanut butter bars and they are no-bake, so it’s the perfect Summer treat! There’s a creamy peanut butter layer that gets topped with melted chocolate and the only hard part here is waiting for them to chill or set.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are one of my favorite candy bars of all times and these bars are really similar to a Reese’s Peanut Butter Bar. This recipe was originally posted back in 2013 and has been recently updated. I haven’t attempted to make this a more WW friendly recipe yet, but I do have other recipes that are similar to this. Check them out below.
Ingredients for Reese’s Peanut Butter Bars
One of the reasons why I love these peanut butter bars so much is because they only contain 5 ingredients!
Butter - must be room temperature so that the mixture is easier to spread and mix together.
Graham Cracker Crumbs - crush your own graham crackers using a food processor or pound them to death in a plastic ziplock bag to let all your anger out.
Creamy Peanut Butter - do not use natural-style peanut butter here or else the consistency will not be the same.
Chocolate Chips - I like to use milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. It reminds me more of Reese’s peanut butter bar.
How to Make Reese’s Peanut Butter Bars
- Line an 8x8in baking dish with aluminum foil. Set aside.
- Peanut Butter Layer: In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, graham cracker crumbs, and powdered sugar together until combined. Stir in ¾ cup of peanut butter. Spread into prepared baking pan.
- Chocolate Layer: In a small bowl, microwave 2 tablespoons of peanut butter with the chocolate chips until melted. Stir until smooth. Spread over the peanut butter layer.
- Sprinkle Reese’s Pieces over the bars or more chocolate chips if you prefer.
- Chill until completely firm, at least 3 hours. Allow to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting.
- Bars stay fresh for 5-7 days stored in the refrigerator. Serve chilled. (Setting them out for a few hours at room temperature for serving is OK.) Bars can be frozen up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
