Air Fryer Spicy Garlic Shrimp - using your air fryer is a fast and easy way to cook shrimp. They are ready in under 6 minutes.

There are so many ways you can cook shrimp but my new favorite way is in the air fryer. I also included skillet instructions for cooking shrimp in the instructions below for those of you that do not have an air fryer.

Air Fryer Shrimp

This post was updated on September 23, 2019 and was originally published on May 17, 2011. It has been updated with new WW freestyle points, new pictures, and air fryer instructions for cooking.

My air fryer is one of my favorites cooking appliances in my kitchen and it has its own place on the countertop. I've cooked steaks, hard-boiled eggs, chicken breast, fish, a lot of frozen food, and recently I just love cooking shrimp in it. Shrimp in the air fryer takes less than 6 minutes at 400 degrees. My air fryer cooking temperature goes all the way to 400 degrees and if your air fryer doesn't do that set it to the closet temperature near 400 and cook the shrimp for a little longer. Shrimp are done when they turn all pink and take no time to cook at all.

How to Make Shrimp in the Air Fryer

1.Heat Air Fryer to 400 degrees.
2 Add olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, grill seasoning, or salt & pepper, lemon, lemon zest and shrimp to a bowl. Toss to combine.
4 Dump the shrimp into your air fryer basket and cook shrimp for 4 to 6 minutes or until just pink. Check at 4 minutes. If they are not done toss the shrimp and cook for another 2 minutes.

Air Fryer Shrimp Recipe Tips

How long does it take to cook shrimp in the air fryer? For Jump shrimp it takes anywhere from 4 to 6 minutes.

How can you cook perfect shrimp every time? Use shrimp that are all the same size. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket with shrimp.

Olive Oil is not needed but you can definitely use cooking spray to keep the shrimp zero points. I love the taste olive gives the shrimp.

What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. It is a downsized version of the convection oven.

Is air fried food healthy?

When you compare air fried food to deep fried food it is much healthier because there is hardly any oil used at all. The only oil I use is from my Pam cooking spray. I spray only the food once or twice because most air fryer baskets are non-stick. If you are concerned about using aerosol sprays for the environment or your health buy a Misto Brushed Aluminum Oil Sprayer can from Amazon and fill that with your favorite oil.

What are the Best Large Size Air Fryers?

If you are researching air fryers and looking to buy the best ones out there on the market I have tried and tested 2 different ones before. If you want to be able to cook more food for your family at once then get an air fryer with a large basket such as 5.3 quarts. Look for ones that say nonstick on them and has multiple program settings.
