Description

Bagels have long been a beloved breakfast staple, enjoyed by many for their chewy texture and versatility. Whether you like them plain or topped with a variety of spreads and toppings, bagels are a go-to choice for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 cup of Greek yogurt (full-fat or non-fat, depending on your preference)

2 cups of self-rising flour

½ cup cheddar

2 tsp diced jalapeno

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Mix until a dough forms. It will be slightly sticky, which is normal. Add in the cheddar and jalapeno.
  3. Knead and Shape: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until smooth. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each piece into a rope. Form each rope into a circle to make the bagel shape, sealing the ends together.
  4. Place the shaped bagels onto the prepared baking sheet. For added flavor, brush the tops with an egg wash and sprinkle with your choice of toppings, such as sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Air Fry – Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Allow the bagels to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them plain, with your favorite spread, or topped with avocado, smoked salmon, or a poached egg.
