Description
If you’ve ever cooked jasmine rice on the stove and ended up with a sticky mess or undercooked grains, the Instant Pot is about to be your new best friend.
Ingredients
2 cups jasmine rice
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oil or butter
Instructions
Rinse the Rice – Place the jasmine rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This step is key to preventing gummy rice.
Add to Instant Pot – Pour the rinsed rice into the Instant Pot insert. Add water, salt, and oil or butter.
Close the Instant Pot – Close the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Select Pressure Cook (or Manual) and set the timer for 4 minutes on High Pressure.
Natural Release – When the cooking cycle ends, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes. After that, turn the valve to Venting to release any remaining steam.
Notes
- For extra flavor, swap water for chicken or vegetable broth.
- Add a pandan leaf or a slice of ginger to the pot for aromatic rice.
- Use coconut milk for creamy, Thai-inspired coconut jasmine rice (adjust liquid ratio to 1 ¾ cups coconut milk + ¼ cup water).
