1 cup quinoa – any color works (white, red, black, or a mix)
1 1/2 cups water or broth – broth adds extra flavor
½ teaspoon salt (optional)
½ teaspoon oil (optional, helps prevent foaming)
Instructions
- Rinse the quinoa in a fine mesh strainer under cold water for at least 30 seconds. This removes the natural coating (saponin) that can make quinoa taste bitter.
- Add to Instant Pot – place rinsed quinoa, water or broth, salt, and oil (if using) into the pot.
- Seal & cook – close the lid, set the valve to Sealing, and pressure cook on High for 1 minute.
- Natural release – let pressure naturally release for 10 minutes, then carefully turn the valve to Venting to release any remaining steam.
- Fluff & serve – use a fork to fluff the quinoa before serving.
Notes
- Fridge: Store cooled quinoa in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
