Description

When it comes to comfort food, few things hit the spot like deep-fried mozzarella sticks. Crispy on the outside with a gooey, melty cheese center, these tasty treats are perfect for a party appetizer, game day snack, or a simple indulgence just because you deserve it.

Ingredients

Scale

8 Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

2 large Eggs:

1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs:

1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese:

Salt and Pepper to taste

Vegetable Oil:

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dipping Station: Set up a breading station with two shallow bowls. In the first bow, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. In the second bowl, mix breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese.
  2. Coat the Cheese Sticks: Dip each cheese stick into the egg mixture, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. For an extra crispy coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  3. Freeze the Sticks: Place the coated sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour. This helps the coating adhere and prevents the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.
  4. Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into a deep fryer or a large pot, filling it to about 3 inches deep. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain the temperature.
  5. Fry the Sticks: Carefully lower the frozen mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Notes

Pair with a variety of dips such as marinara, ranch, or garlic aioli.
