Description

Make the best baked walleye recipe with simple seasonings, butter, and lemon. This easy oven baked fish is flaky, flavorful, and ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 walleye fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter or dairy-free butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the walleye fillets dry with paper towels and place them in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Brush both sides of the fillets with olive oil, then brush the tops with the melted butter or dairy-free butter.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the fillets.
  5. Place the lemon slices on top of the fish.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

  1. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with additional lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Thicker fillets may need an extra 2 to 3 minutes of cooking time.
  • Fresh or thawed frozen walleye both work well in this recipe.
  • Dairy-free butter can be substituted for regular butter with excellent results.
