Description

A griddle breakfast sandwich is a delightful way to start the day, combining the hearty wholesomeness of breakfast staples with the convenience of a handheld meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 English muffins or bagels, split
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon or ham
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Sliced avocado, tomato, or spinach for extra toppings

Instructions

  1. Prepare Griddle: Preheat your outdoor griddle to medium-high heat. Once heated, lightly grease the surface with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Toast the Bread: Place the split English muffins or bagels on the griddle, cut side down. Toast until they are golden brown, which should take about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the Eggs: Reduce the griddle heat to medium. Crack the eggs onto the griddle. You can either cook the eggs sunny-side up, over-easy, or scramble them, depending on your preference. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the whites are set and the yolks are done to your liking.
  4. Heat the Meat: If you're using precooked bacon or ham, place it on the griddle to warm up. This should take about 1-2 minutes per side.
  5. Assemble the Sandwiches: Start by placing a slice of cheese on the bottom half of the toasted English muffin or bagel. Add the cooked egg on top of the cheese, followed by your choice of bacon or ham. If you're adding extra toppings like avocado, tomato, or spinach, layer them on top of the meat. Finish by placing the other half of the English muffin or bagel on top.
  6. Warm the Sandwiches: For an extra melty and warm sandwich, you can place the assembled sandwiches back on the griddle for another minute or two, pressing down gently with a spatula.
  7. Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the griddle and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious, homemade breakfast sandwiches!

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the sandwiches with your favorite ingredients.
  • For a healthier option, you can use whole wheat muffins or bagels and add plenty of fresh veggies.
  • If you're cooking for a crowd, you can keep the finished sandwiches warm in a low oven (around 200°F) until ready to serve.
