Description

With minimal seasoning and a focus on high-quality meat, this carnivore steak recipe is not only easy to prepare but also incredibly satisfying. Let's dive into the steps to create a mouth-watering steak that will delight your taste buds.

Ingredients

Scale

1 high-quality cut of steak (ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon are excellent choices)

Sea salt to taste

Butter or beef tallow for cooking

Optional: Black pepper for those who enjoy a touch of spice

Instructions

  1. Bring the Steak to Room Temperature: Before you begin cooking, let your steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps it cook more evenly.
  2. Season Generously: Sprinkle sea salt on both sides of the steak. If you prefer, add a dash of black pepper. Remember, the focus is on the meat's natural flavor, so keep seasoning minimal.
  3. Preheat Your Pan: Use a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan for the best results. Heat it over medium-high heat until it's very hot.
  4. Add Fat to the Pan: Once the pan is hot, add a tablespoon of your chosen cooking fat. Let it melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
  5. Sear the Steak: Carefully place the steak in the pan. Let it sear without moving it for about 3-4 minutes on one side. The aim is to achieve a deep, golden-brown crust.
  6. Flip and Cook the Other Side: Turn the steak over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust the time based on your preferred doneness—longer for medium or well-done, shorter for rare.
  7. Baste with Butter or Tallow: For extra flavor, tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted fat in the pan.
  8. Rest the Steak: Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy bite with every mouthful.
