Description

This easy School Lunch Pizza is a nostalgic family favorite made with a store bought pizza crust, homemade tomato sauce, seasoned ground beef, Herbes de Provence, and plenty of melted mozzarella cheese. It is an easy weeknight dinner that brings back memories of classic cafeteria pizza.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 store bought pizza crust
  • 1 to cups homemade tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Herbes de Provence
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the package directions for the pizza crust.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the garlic powder and dried oregano until evenly combined.
  4. Place the pizza crust on a pizza pan or baking sheet.
  5. Spread the homemade tomato sauce evenly over the crust.
  6. Sprinkle the Herbes de Provence over the tomato sauce.
  7. Spoon the seasoned ground beef evenly over the sauce.
  8. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the beef.
  9. Bake according to the pizza crust package directions, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  10. Let the pizza cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Freshly shredded mozzarella melts best.
  • Drain the ground beef well to prevent a greasy pizza.
  • Add pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, or green peppers if desired.
