If you have ever stood in your kitchen holding a frozen lasagna and wondered, โ€œCan I air fry this?โ€ the answer is yes.
It actually turns out better than microwaving and it cooks faster than heating a full oven.

I tested this using a Dollar Tree frozen lasagna along with a Stoufferโ€™s Classic Lasagna, and both cooked perfectly in the air fryer. The cheese melts evenly, the edges get a little crispy, and the middle heats through without the cold spots that sometimes happen with microwaving.

This is a great option for busy nights, quick work lunches, or anytime you do not want to heat up the whole house.

Why You Will Love This Air Fryer Frozen Lasagna

I cook with my air fryer almost every day, and frozen meals are one of the easiest ways to use it. Frozen lasagna is surprisingly reliable in the air fryer and it tastes more like oven baked lasagna than microwaved lasagna.

Here is why this method works so well:

    • No need to turn on the oven
    • Cooks more evenly than a microwave
    • Cheese melts nicely and the top gets a little crisp
    • Simple hands off cooking
    • Works great with Dollar Tree lasagna, Stoufferโ€™s, or Michelinaโ€™s

If you cook for one or prefer easy meals, this is a perfect budget friendly option.

Ingredients Needed for Air Fryer Frozen Lasagna

Ingredients needed for Air Fryer Frozen lasagna.
    • 1 frozen lasagna (any brand or size similar to a single serve tray)

    Substitution Tips

    • Larger family size lasagna will work, but it needs additional cooking time.
    • Meat, veggie, and cheese lasagnas all cook the same.
    • Gluten free or high protein lasagnas may cook slightly faster, so check early.
    • If the lasagna does not come in a foil tray, place it in a small oven safe dish.

How to Air Fry Frozen Lasagna

Step 1: Place the frozen lasagna in the air fryer. Keep it in the foil tray if it comes with one. Foil is completely safe in the air fryer. If the lasagna comes in plastic, remove it and place the lasagna in a small oven safe dish. Cover the lasagna with a piece of tinfoil.

Step 2: Air fry at 350 degrees F, Check around the 20 minute mark to see how it is heating.

Step 3: Add foil if the top browns too fast. Place a small piece of foil loosely over the top if needed.

Step 4: Check the center. The middle should be hot and bubbling. You are looking for an internal temp of 165 degrees F. Let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.

    • Dollar Tree or Michelinaโ€™s size (7 to 8 ounces) cooks in 22 to 25 minutes
    • Stoufferโ€™s single serve (10 to 12 ounces) cooks in 26 to 30 minutes

    Serving Suggestions

    • Side salad with Italian dressing
    • Garlic toast, Texas Toast, or a frozen breadstick
    • Steamed broccoli
    • Parmesan cheese on top
    • A slice of buttered sourdough

    Variations

    • Extra cheesy version: Add shredded mozzarella during the last 3 minutes.
    • Add protein by topping with leftover ground beef or turkey.
    • Add vegetables such as spinach or mushrooms before cooking.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I air fry a large family size lasagna?

Yes you can. It will take 35 to 50 minutes depending on thickness. Rotate it halfway through.

Can I cook two single serve lasagnas at once?

Yes, as long as they fit in a single layer and have room for air to circulate.

Should I thaw the lasagna first?

No. It cooks best directly from frozen.

    Will the cheese burn?

No, not when it is covered in foil for the first part of cooking.
