One of my goals this year is to cut out Door Dash Delivery and Taco Pizza was something I’d order a lot. So I’d thought I’d share my own version of taco pizza using just simple ingredients from Aldi and no lettuce.

I’ve been trying hard to cut back on DoorDash spending lately, and honestly? Recipes like this make it so much easier. This homemade taco pizza hits all the same cheesy, beefy, crunchy cravings… without delivery fees, cold food, or regret.
And before anyone asks: no lettuce on this taco pizza. I don’t care if it’s traditional — warm lettuce on pizza is a hard no for me because the next day the lettuce is all wilted. If you like it, you can add it later but just on the slice its self.

This is the kind of recipe that scratches the takeout itch without actually ordering takeout.
Ingredients needed for Taco Pizza
- 1 Pizza crust or dough – Store-bought or homemade both work
- 1 lb Ground beef – Lean beef keeps it less greasy How to Cook Ground Beef
- 1 packet Taco seasoning – Packet or homemade
- ½ Refried beans – Acts like the “sauce” and adds creaminess
- 2 tablespoons of Taco Sauce
- Shredded Mexican-blend cheese – Or cheddar + mozzarella
- Crushed tortilla chips – For crunch (highly recommend) Definitely use a cheese flavored tortilla chip cause that is what Happy Joe's uses.
- Diced tomatoes – Optional, but good
- Black olives or jalapeños – Optional toppings
- Sour cream – For drizzling after baking
Substitution Tips
- Use ground turkey if that’s what you have
- Swap refried beans for seasoned Greek yogurt if you want it lighter
- Gluten-free crust works just fine here
- Skip chips if you want it softer, add more cheese instead

Step 3 Bake the crust for 5–7 minutes if needed for extra crispiness.
Step 4 Mix the refried beans and sauce in a bowl. Then Spread refried beans evenly over the crust.

Step 3 Add seasoned beef, then sprinkle generously with cheese.

Step 4 Bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Top with tortilla chips, tomatoes, olives, or jalapeños if using.Drizzle sour cream over the top after baking.

And that’s it. No DoorDash driver. No mystery fees. No lukewarm disappointment.
About That Lettuce…
I know taco pizza traditionally gets shredded lettuce added on top — but I just can’t do it. Warm lettuce on pizza ruins everything for me.
If you love lettuce, add it after baking.
If you’re like me, skip it entirely and enjoy the pizza the way it was meant to be eaten: hot and cheesy.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with salsa or guacamole on the side
- Add hot sauce if you like heat
- Pair with a simple side salad if you want balance (off the pizza 😄)
Cutting Back on DoorDash (Without Feeling Deprived)
This taco pizza is exactly why I’m okay cutting back on delivery. It’s fast, affordable, and honestly tastes better than what usually shows up after a 40-minute wait.
If you’re trying to spend less on takeout but still want fun, crave-worthy meals — this is the kind of recipe that helps you stick to it.
