Carnivore ice cream is a high-fat, low-carb, dairy-based dessert made specifically for those following a carnivore diet. Unlike traditional ice cream, it contains only animal-based ingredients, making it rich, creamy, and keto-friendly. This can also be made in a Ninja Creami.

When you think of ice cream, the first thing that might come to mind is the sweet, creamy delight that comes in flavors like chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. However, for those on a carnivore diet or simply seeking a unique culinary experience, carnivore ice cream is creating a buzz. Yes, you heard that right – an ice cream designed for meat lovers!

    What is Carnivore Ice Cream?

This recipe is extremely high in fats and proteins and would be most appropriate for those following ketogenic, carnivore, or low-carb high-fat diets.

Carnivore ice cream is a niche culinary creation that caters to those following a carnivorous diet. This diet emphasizes eating animal products while excluding plant-based foods. The idea behind carnivore ice cream is to provide a treat that aligns with this lifestyle while offering a creative twist on traditional ice cream.

Unlike regular ice cream, which is typically made from milk, sugar, and flavorings, carnivore ice cream is crafted using animal-based ingredients. Common components include raw or cooked beef, liver, bone marrow, eggs, and animal fats like tallow or lard. These ingredients are blended with heavy cream or butter to achieve a rich, creamy texture.

How is it Different from Regular Ice Cream?

    • No plant-based ingredients – No sugar, artificial sweeteners, or fiber-based additives.
    • Higher in fat – Designed to support ketosis and energy needs.
    • Richer & Denser – Due to the heavy use of egg yolks and cream.

Ingredients Needed for Carnivore Ice Cream

    • 1 cup of heavy cream or butter - The primary base, providing fat and a smooth texture.
    • ½ cup of cooked beef or liver
    • 2 tablespoons of bone marrow
    • 2 egg yolks - Adds creaminess, richness, and natural emulsification.
    • 1 tablespoon of animal fat (tallow or lard) - Enhances the fat content and gives extra creaminess.
    • Sweetener (Optional, Carnivore-Friendly) – Some versions use egg-based sweeteners (like egg yolk powder) or raw honey for a touch of sweetness. This is optional if you would the ice cream to be sweeter.
    • A pinch of salt
    • Vanilla Paste or Vanilla Beans - optional

How to Make Carnivore Ice Cream

Prepare the Base: Blend the heavy cream, cooked beef (or liver), bone marrow, and egg yolks in a blender until smooth.

Add Fat and Salt: Incorporate the animal fat and a pinch of salt into the mixture. Blend again to ensure all ingredients are well combined.

Chill and Freeze: Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes until it reaches the desired consistency.

Serve and Enjoy: Once the ice cream is set, scoop it into bowls and enjoy a one-of-a-kind dessert experience.

    Tips for Carnivore Ice Cream

    1. Use high-quality, grass-fed beef, liver, and bone marrow whenever possible. These ingredients are not only more nutrient-dense but also tend to have a better flavor profile.
    2. If you prefer a creamier texture, you can increase the amount of heavy cream or butter. Alternatively, for a more solid ice cream, reduce the heavy cream and increase the animal fat.

    Carnivore Ice Cream Recipe FAQS

What can I add to my carnivore ice cream to help enhance the flavors?

While the base recipe is delicious on its own, consider adding spices like cinnamon or vanilla extract for additional flavor. Just ensure they fit within your dietary guidelines.

What do I do if my ice cream is too dense?

Try whipping the heavy cream before blending it with other ingredients. This can add a lighter, airier texture.

What can I serve with carnivore ice cream?

For an extra touch, consider garnishing with crispy bacon bits or a drizzle of melted beef tallow for added flavor and texture.
