This Easter Crack is the sweet & salty treat you didnโ€™t know you needed โ€” buttery toffee, crunchy crackers, creamy white chocolate, and ALL the festive toppings. Itโ€™s colorful, chaotic, and completely irresistible. One bite and youโ€™ll be hooked โ€” donโ€™t say we didnโ€™t warn you.

Why You Will Like This Recipe

Easter is coming up pretty quick and last weekend I was already buying the candy. That's the best part about Easter right? My favorite is the Starburst jelly beans and those Reese's peanut butter eggs.

This recipe is based off a recipe for sweet and saltines. It's basically saltine crackers with caramel sauce and melted chocolate on top. The butter and sugar kind of soak into the crackers making it look like toffee almost.

I just changed the chocolate to white chocolate chips and added different Easter candy on top. It's so good! I had to hide it because I'm watching my calorie intake now.

Some other easy candy recipes to try are Trisha Yearwood's Slow Cooker Chocolate Candy and Alton Brown's Homemade Candy Corn

    Ingredients Needed

    Ingredients Needed for Easter Crack.
    • Saltine crackers - the salty star of the recipe!
    • Butter - It's the glue that holds the delicious chaos together โ€” and makes everything taste better. ๐Ÿงˆโœจ
    • Brown sugar - Brings a warm, molasses-kissed sweetness that blends with butter to form the ultimate caramel cr ackle.
    • White chocolate chips - These chips melt into a smooth, sweet topping that holds all your colorful candies and sprinkles in place. I
    • M&M's the pastel colored ones
    • Optional Toppings: Malted chocolate covered eggs, crushed pretzels, Easter colored sprinkles
    • For the rest of the recipe please see below

    Substitution Tips

    • Use graham crackers instead of saltines for a sweeter version
    • Swap chocolate chips for white chocolate or peanut butter chips
    • Use mini eggs, sprinkles, or crushed candy instead of M&Mโ€™s
    • If youโ€™re low on butter, you can do half butter + half margarine, but butter gives the best flavor

    How to Make Easter Crack

Crackers lined up on a baking sheet.

Step 1 Line 1 large or 2 small jelly-roll pans with aluminum foil, spray with nonstick spray and arrange the saltines salt-side down in a single layer.

Brown sugar and butter mixtured poured over crackers.

Step 2 In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together and boil until it turns a caramel color, a few minutes. Remove from the heat and pour over the crackers, covering them evenly.

White chocolate chips on top of crackers.

Step 3 Put the jelly-roll pan into the oven and bake for 3 to 5 minutes, or until just bubbly, watching carefully. Remove from the oven and pour the chocolate chips over the crackers. When the chips melt a bit, spread them over the crackers with a knife.Top with M&M's, malted eggs, pretzels and sprinkles. Drizzle some green chocolate chips on top if desired.

    Finished saltine cracker toffee.

Step 4 Transfer the pan to the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until completely cold. They will form one big sheet. Break up into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

    Pro Tips

    • Donโ€™t skip the 3-minute boilโ€”thatโ€™s what creates the toffee texture
    • Use parchment paper, not foil (it sticks way less)
    • Spread chocolate while itโ€™s still warm so it melts smoothly
    • Let it cool fully before breaking so it sets properly

    ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Serving Suggestions

    • Serve with coffee or as a quick sweet snack after dinner
    • Add to an Easter dessert tray with cookies and brownies
    • Break into pieces and package as a homemade gift

    Recipe FAQS

Can I use jelly beans in my Easter bark?

Jelly beans are very sweet and I don't recommend using them for this recipe. Use chocolate based candies instead.

    How do I store leftovers?

Always store leftovers in clean, food-grade containers. The type of container doesnโ€™t really matter. Use zip lock, glass, plastic, whatever! Make sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container.

Why is it called crack candy?

Because itโ€™s super addictiveโ€”sweet, salty, and hard to stop eating.
