Air fryer edamame is one of the easiest high-protein snacks you can make. Using frozen edamame pods means thereโ€™s no prep, no thawing, and barely any cleanup. In just minutes, youโ€™ll have warm, lightly crisped edamame thatโ€™s perfect for snacking, meal prep, or serving as a simple appetizer.

I've been into making my own ramen and any kind of rice bowl lately and these edamame are a great addition to that. They cook up in under 12 minutes using the air fryer.

    What is Edamame?

Edamame are young green soybeans that are harvested before they fully mature. They are commonly served as a healthy snack or appetizer, especially in Asian cuisine. Edamame have a mild, slightly nutty flavor and a soft, tender texture when cooked.

You can buy edamame in two forms:

    • In the pod โ€“ green fuzzy pods that contain the beans inside
    • Shelled โ€“ just the beans with the outer pod already removed

When eating edamame in pods, you do not eat the outer shell. Instead, you squeeze or pull the beans out of the pod with your teeth or fingers.
