If you love the classic Bob Evans biscuits and gravy, you are going to be so surprised at how easy it is to make at home! This version has that same rich, creamy sausage gravy poured over warm, fluffy biscuits, but everything is made in your own kitchen with simple ingredients from Aldi. I even used the air fryer for the biscuits, which made this breakfast come together so quickly.

This is one of those comfort food recipes that feels like a weekend treat, but it is simple enough to make any day of the week.

Why You Will Love This Recipe
This homemade sausage gravy tastes just like the restaurant version but costs a fraction of the price. Everything I used came from Aldi, which makes this a budget friendly breakfast that still feels special.
Cooking the biscuits in the air fryer is a game-changer. They come out golden on the outside, soft on the inside, and you do not have to heat up the whole oven. If you've been trying to order take out less or make more food at home this recipe is a keeper especially for the weekends!
It is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even breakfast for dinner. I like to serve this with fresh fruit and some scrambled eggs.

How to Make Bob Evans Sausage Gravy
Start by cooking the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Break it up into crumbles as it cooks, so you get that classic sausage gravy texture.

Once the sausage is fully cooked, add butter to the pan, then sprinkle the flour and gravy mix packet over the top and stir it into the sausage. Let it cook for about a minute so the raw flour taste disappears.

Slowly pour in the beef broth and milk while stirring. The gravy will start to thicken as it heats. Keep stirring until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency.

Add salt and plenty of black pepper to taste. The pepper is what gives it that signature Bob Evans flavor.
Let the gravy simmer on low while you make the biscuits.
Air Fryer Biscuits
Cooking biscuits in the air fryer is one of my favorite breakfast shortcuts.
Place the biscuits in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Cook at 330 degrees for about 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown.
They come out perfectly fluffy and you do not have to wait for the oven to preheat. Check out my recipe for Air Fryer Canned Biscuits!
How to Serve
Split the warm biscuits in half and spoon the sausage gravy over the top.
You can serve this with:
Scrambled eggs
Fresh fruit
Hash browns
A side of yogurt for extra protein
Budget Friendly Aldi Haul
One of my favorite things about this recipe is that everything came from Aldi. You can make a full biscuits and gravy breakfast for much less than going out to eat, and you probably have some of the ingredients at home already.
This is exactly why I love recreating restaurant favorites at home. You get the same comfort food experience for a better price!
Tips for the Best Sausage Gravy
Use whole milk for the creamiest texture.
Stir the milk in slowly to avoid lumps.
Do not skip the black pepper. That classic peppery flavor is what makes it taste like the original.
If the gravy gets too thick, just add a splash of milk and stir.
Make It Lighter!
You can easily lighten this recipe up by using a lower fat sausage and a reduced fat milk. It will still be creamy and delicious but lower in points and calories.
