Coconut ice cream is a delightful treat that combines the rich, creamy texture of traditional ice cream with the exotic, tropical flavor of coconut. This dessert is not only refreshing but also offers a unique taste experience that sets it apart from more common ice cream flavors.
Made from ingredients like coconut milk or cream, sugar, and often shredded coconut flakes, it provides a dairy-free alternative for those who are lactose intolerant or following a vegan diet.

Kohl’s had one last Ninja Creami in the store yesterday so I grabbed it. My last Ninja Creami ended up burning inside somewhere and I coudn’t use the blade on it anymore. I think my problem was putting whole frozen fruit in it.
This time I’m going to make sure everything is properly blended first adding it. I can’t wait to make ice cream again. I love my Air Fryer, Blackstone, and Ninja Creami!

Why You Will Like This
If you love vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream in the Ninja Creami you will like coconut ice cream!
Just dump a can of coconut milk into a ninja creami pint and add in your favorite canned fruit. The juices in can will give the coconut ice cream its extra sweetness and make it really creamy. Think pineapple chunks + coconut milk = pina colada ice cream.
You can also make protein chocolate ice cream with your favorite protein brand of protein drinks.
Why You Will Love the Ninja Creami
- Ninja Creami’s can make smoothie bowls, ice cream, gelato, sorbet, and even milkshakes!
- Respin! If the blending didn’t work the first time try adding some more juice or milk to it and do a second respin.
- Vanilla or Chocolate ice cream is a great base for many different mix-ins!
- The Ninja Creami is kind of loud when it is spinning in the machine. Just warning you before you attempt to make ice cream. 🙂
- Protein drinks like Fairlife and Premiere work great in a Ninja Creami.
- This is the Ninja Creami machine I have. Ninja CN301CO CREAMi Ice Cream Maker (Amazon Link)

Step 2 Following the manufacturer's instructions, insert the pint container into the outer bowl. Push 'Ice Cream' button.
Step 3 When done spinning, push 'Re-spin' button and add the juice from the can and its fruit. As much as you like, you don’t need much. It should look like the image in the recipe card.
Pro Tips for Coconut Ice Cream
For the best coconut flavor, use full-fat canned coconut milk. Shake the can well before opening so the coconut cream and liquid are evenly combined.
If you want extra coconut flavor, add unsweetened shredded coconut as a mix-in after the ice cream has been processed. Toasting the coconut first gives it a delicious nutty flavor and adds a little crunch.
For an even creamier texture, let the frozen pint sit on the counter for a few minutes before processing. If the ice cream looks crumbly after the first spin, use the Re-Spin function until smooth and creamy.
Storage
Store leftover Ninja Creami Coconut Ice Cream in the Creami pint with the lid securely attached and keep it frozen.
If the ice cream becomes firm after being refrozen, let the pint sit at room temperature for a few minutes before processing it again. A quick Re-Spin can help bring back that soft, creamy texture.
For the best flavor and texture, enjoy the ice cream within a few weeks.
Serving Suggestions
Top your coconut ice cream with toasted coconut flakes for extra coconut flavor and crunch. Mini chocolate chips are also delicious if you want to turn it into a coconut chocolate chip ice cream.
For a tropical dessert, add fresh pineapple, mango, or sliced strawberries. A drizzle of chocolate sauce or caramel sauce also pairs beautifully with coconut.
You can serve it in a waffle cone, sugar cone, or bowl with whipped cream and extra shredded coconut on top. For a simple dessert, just add a sprinkle of toasted coconut and enjoy!
