    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Crispy without frying - No more soggy tofu! The air fryer gives it a perfect golden crust with minimal oil.
    • High in protein - Great plant-based option to fuel you through the week.
    • Budget-friendly - One block of tofu makes several servings and costs less than $2.
    • Endlessly customizable - You can season it however you like—spicy, savory, sweet and sticky… go wild.
    • Meal prep win - Make a batch and toss it in bowls, salads, stir-fries, or wraps all week long. I like to turn it into a quick stir fry with those 90 second microwave rice packets kind of like this Air Fryer Veggie Stir Fry with Tofu or Air Fryer Stir Fry

Ingredients Needed for Air Fryer Tofu

    • 1 block extra-firm tofu – Pressed for at least 15–30 minutes
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari – For that savory base flavor
    • ½ tablespoon sesame oil – Optional, but adds richness and a toasty flavor
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder – Or onion powder if you prefer
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch – This is the secret to that golden crispy texture
    • Optional: chili flakes, smoked paprika, hoisin, or maple syrup – Flavor it your way!

💡 Pro Tip : You can skip sesame oil if you're avoiding added oils—just use a splash of low-sodium soy sauce and increase the cornstarch a bit to compensate.

How to Make Air Fryer Tofu

Press the tofu: Wrap tofu in paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Place something heavy on top (like a skillet or book). Let it press for 20–30 minutes to remove excess moisture.

Cut into cubes: Once pressed, cut tofu into bite-sized pieces (around ¾-inch cubes work best).

Cut up cubed pieces of tofu ready for air fryer.

Season it: In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and any other seasonings you like. Then sprinkle in the cornstarch and toss until evenly coated.

Air fry: Preheat air fryer to 375°F. Place tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 12–14 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Nutrition Info for Air Fryer Tofu

Based on ¼ block of tofu per serving (made with soy sauce and ½ tablespoon sesame oil total):

    • Calories: 130
    • Protein: 11g
    • Fat: 7g
    • Carbs: 5g
    • WW Points: Approximately 1–3 points depending on brand of tofu and whether oil is used

💡 Using oil-free spray or skipping the sesame oil can lower the points even further. I usually use Lightlife or Aldi’s extra-firm tofu to keep it affordable and WW-friendly.

    Recipe FAQS

Can I make this air fryer tofu without oil?

Yes! You can skip the sesame oil completely—just make sure your tofu is well-pressed and still coat it in cornstarch for crispiness.

Can I marinate air fryer tofu?

Absolutely. Just press the tofu first, then marinate for 30 minutes or longer before air frying.

How do I store and reheat leftovers?

Store in the fridge up to 4 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–4 minutes to get it crispy again.

What if I don't have cornstarch?

Arrowroot powder or potato starch also work well!

If you’re looking for an easy, high-protein meatless meal, this crispy air fryer tofu has your back. It’s simple, satisfying, and pairs with almost anything. Plus, it's the kind of recipe that makes you feel like a meal prep genius. 😉
