This pork chops and apple recipe is the perfect Fall meal and it all comes together in one pan. Ready in less than 30 minutes!

I eat a lot of chicken, lean ground beef, and eggs most of the time. Every now and then I like to switch it up a bit and get the boneless pork chops. I will wrap them up individually and freeze the other pork chops so when I want a quick meal I can just take the pork chop out of the freezer and defrost it. Why do people not eat more pork chops? Pork is delicious and tastes like chicken anyway. Apples and pork chops are a food combo made in heaven and if you have never tried this combo yet please do! It is fabulous.
Without any substitutions, this dish is 13 WW Freestyle points and it is pretty high in points do to the maple syrup. To make this dish more WW friendly, I would use sugar-free maple syrup, and reduce the amount of butter and olive to 1 tablespoon each. The points change drastically if you use sugar-free maple syrup. This dish is now 6 points instead of 13! Isn't it crazy how just these substitutes can change the points so much? I will leave a note in the recipe card below about this.
I've been trying a lot of recipes from the Pioneer Woman lately and most of her dishes aren't very WW friendly and I love to find substitutions to make her recipes low in points. So far, I've made Homemade Ranch dressing, Sour Cream Noodle Bake, Twice Baked Potatoes, Perfect Pot Roast and now Pork Chops and Apples. All of which can be found on her website or Food Network's website. Her recipes are very simple to follow and very family-friendly. Plus I just love watching her show. I make her chili recipe all the time but I leave out the masa harina.
What to serve with Pork Chops and Apples?
Her notes say to serve this dish with creamy grits, but we had acorn squash with it instead. This recipe is also fine on its own but I usually serve up a salad with fresh spinach. Cauliflower mashed potatoes or creamy cauliflower would also be good.
How to Make Pork Chops and Apples
Heat a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and butter and heat until butter in melted.
Salt and pepper both sides of pork chops. Brown them on both sides until nice and golden. Remove pork chops from the skillet and set on a separate plate.
Reduce heat to medium. Add apples and stir to combine them with the oil, and butter that remains in the pan. Pour in wine and vinegar, then whisk along the bottom of the pan to deglaze it. Cook until liquid is reduced by half, about 5 minutes. Pour in the maple syrup, then add a dash of salt and pepper. Stir, then return pork chops to the pan. Cover the pan and simmer on low for 20 minutes.
Serve pork chops on top of a generous helping of Creamy Cheese Grits (mashed potatoes are good, too) and spoon the apple-maple sauce over the top, allowing the liquid to drip over the grits.

Chicken stock would definitely work.
Laurie says
What could you use in lieu of the white wine? Would apple cider work? Or perhaps chicken stock?
