Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are the ultimate easy side dish that feels special every time. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep, they’ll become a staple in your weekly meal rotation. Don’t forget to try different toppings and share your creations!

Air fryer loaded baked potato with cheese, butter, bacon, and sour cream.

That is 7 oz. It's easier to weigh potatoes in grams than ounces on the scale so I can track it easier in myfitnesspal. I set the air fryer to 390 degrees and let them cook for 30 to 40 minutes. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and flaky and I topped my baked potatoes with some taco fixings.

A potato has more potassium than a banana does!

The air fryer is one of my favorite kitchen appliances. Check out some of these recipes! Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls in Air Fryer, Air Fryer Omelette, Air Fryer Poutine, or Air Fryer Turkey Breast!

    Why You Will Like This

    • Instead of using your oven to make a baked potato, you can use an air fryer. Usually, baked potatoes take at least an hr depending on the size of them. Both of the potatoes that I used were around 200 grams for each potato.
    • Crispy skins without deep frying
    • Perfect fluffy texture inside
    • Faster than traditional baking
    • Uses simple pantry ingredients

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for air fried baked potatoes.
    • Russet medium potatoes - I prefer either Russets or Idado potatoes for this.
    • Butter - Who doesn't like their baked potato topped with a tablespoon of butter? I sure do!
    • Salt and Pepper to taste
    • Cooking Spray such as Pam -  this helps the potato skin get extra crispy if you like to eat the skin of the potato. I was told that is where all the fiber is.
    • Parsley is for garnish
    • See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

How to Make Air Fryer Baked Potatoes

Step 1: Set your air fryer to 400 degrees.

Step 2: Prick some holes in the potatoes with a fork and spray the potato with cooking spray. Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket and close it.

Step 3: Set the time for 35 minutes. After the 35 minutes is up, test the baked potato to see if it was done by checking how soft the potato is. If it is not ready yet, place the potato back in for 10 minutes longer. Of course, the time will vary depending on how large your potatoes are. I used a medium sized russet potato for this.

Note: Potatoes are ready when their internal temperature reaches 208 to 211° Fahrenheit. A fork easily pierces a baker when it's done. If the potato is hard, bake a little longer. However, watch out for over-baking, or drying of the underskin will occur.

    Baked Potato Toppings

    • Classics: Butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions
    • Protein Boost: Carnivore Chili, Weight Watchers BBQ Chicken, Traeger Smoked Pulled Pork, bacon bits
    • Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, Smoked Salsa, steamed broccoli, avocado slices
    • Fun & Different: Buffalo chicken, Taco Meat on a Blackstone , spinach & feta

    Tips for the best-Baked Potato!

    • Choose similar-sized potatoes so they cook evenly.
    • Don’t skip the oil—it helps crisp the skin!
    • For a crowd, cook in batches or keep warm in the oven until ready to serve.

    Recipe FAQs

Can I use other types of potatoes?

Russets work best for that traditional fluffy texture, but you can try Yukon Gold or sweet potatoes for variation.

Can you use aluminum foil in the air fryer?

Yes you can. It helps for easy clean up after cooking something in the air fryer basket.

How long to reheat a baked potato in the air fryer?

Place the baked potato in the air fryer basket at 350 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes until it's warm.

What air fryer do I have?

Cosori 4 Qt Air Fryer- This air fryer doesn't require any preheating and has several different functions for cooking chicken, meat, frozen foods, etc. There are 5 different functions.

On the fresh French fries. Cook at 360 for about 4 mins. Stir, cook again 4 - 5 mins. Stir then cook 6 - 8 mins then turn your heat up to 400 and finish about 8 mins. Use the oil before you fry and salt. I’ve used fried them this way and they taste so much better. They get very hot so beware. Haven’t done them as crispie as I like but still learning.

I would go less time on the baked potato in the air fryer if microwaving the potatoes first.

I have a question about the air fryer baked potatoes. I recently purchased a small air fryer for mostly oven fries but i would like to make a baked potato [I live alone]. Instead of baking for 30-40 minutes what do you think of the idea of microwaving for 3 minutes and then putting the potato in the air fryer for perhaps 20 minutes or so? I can't find anything on the internet that shows someone has done this.
