Air Fryer Apple Crisp is an easy dessert made with tender cinnamon apples and a buttery, crunchy oat topping. Instead of turning on the oven, the air fryer cooks this apple crisp quickly and gives the topping a delicious golden brown finish.

This is the perfect small-batch dessert when you want something warm and comforting without making a huge recipe. Serve it with vanilla ice cream for an easy dessert that tastes like fall in every bite.

Why This Works
This Air Fryer Apple Crisp works because the air fryer creates a hot, circulating environment that cooks the apples while quickly browning the crisp topping. The result is tender, cinnamon-spiced apples underneath a golden, buttery topping.
It is also a great recipe when you only want dessert for a few people. You can prepare everything in one small baking dish that fits inside your air fryer basket.
The combination of sweet apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, oats, and butter gives you all the cozy flavors of traditional apple crisp with less cooking time.
Ingredients for Apple Crisp

- Apples (any kind) - Fuji, Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, Gala, or Red Delicious. Honey Crisp is better in the Fall.
- Cinnamon - Is a spice that comes from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum.
- Lemon Juice - is a citrus juice made from squeezing the juice of fresh lemons. It is commonly used as a flavoring agent in cooking, baking, and beverages.
- Brown sugar - Is made by combining granulated white sugar with molasses, which gives it a brown color and a slightly different taste than regular white sugar.
Topping
- Flour - Most baking recipes will require some type of flour. In order to get the right amount level off the flour with a spoon.
- Salt - Kosher salt is the best for baking
- Old fashioned oats - Also known as rolled oats, are a type of oatmeal that has been steamed and rolled to create flat, oval-shaped flakes. They are a popular breakfast food and can be cooked on the stove or in the microwave with water or milk.
- Cold butter - Is what creates the crumbly streusel topping that goes on top of the apple crisp. It sticks to the oats and makes that nice crunching topping that everyone loves!

How to make Air Fryer Apple Crisp
Apple crisp should have a crisp and buttery streusel topping and the air fryer is really good at producing that. The apples cook covered for 15 minutes. Then the foil gets removed and the apples will bake for another 5 minutes is up, then I add the streusel topping on and continue cooking for another 5 minutes. I’ve tried making apple crisp before in an Instant Pot and that was more like apple oatmeal. The topping didn’t even get crispy at all.
Step 1: Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F. Butter a 5-in oval baking dish.
Step 2: Peel, core, and cut the apples into small cubes. Combine the apples with the lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Pour into the dish.

Step 3: Cover the dish with the aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Open up the air fryer and continue cooking for 5 more minutes uncovered.

Step 3: To make the topping, combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and cold butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on low speed until the mixture is crumbly and the butter is the size of peas. Scatter evenly over the apples.

Place the crisp back in your air fryer uncovered for 5 more minutes.
Pro Tips for Air Fryer Apple Crisp
Choose apples that hold their shape well when cooked. A combination of sweet and tart apples gives the best flavor.
Slice the apples evenly so some pieces do not become mushy while others remain firm.
If the topping starts browning too quickly, loosely cover the baking dish with foil for the remainder of cooking.
Storage and Reheating
Store leftover Air Fryer Apple Crisp covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
To reheat, place an individual serving back into the air fryer and heat until warmed through. This helps bring the crisp topping back to life instead of leaving it soft.
You can also reheat it in the microwave, although the topping will not be as crispy.
Serving Suggestions
Serve Air Fryer Apple Crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The combination of hot cinnamon apples and cold, creamy ice cream is hard to beat.
You can also add whipped cream, caramel sauce, chopped pecans, or a sprinkle of extra cinnamon.
Recipe FAQs
An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. It is a downsized version of the convection oven.
When you compare air fried food to deep-fried food it is much healthier because there is hardly any oil used at all. The only oil I use is from my Pam cooking spray.

so on the recipe it seems like you need 12 Tbsp. of brown sugar. 6 for the initial mixing and 6 for the topping-right.

just kinda bashed up the topping mixture in a ziplock, with holding it in the freezer. about 30sec to a minute of bashing, and then toss in the freezer, repeat.
apple mix i added salt and nutmeg to. microwaved mix on its own for about 3 minutes total, mixing at each minute. didnt want to muss with tinfoil/wait the fifteen minutes.
added a couple minutes extra cooking time in the air fryer bc we’re extra crispy lovin’ folks. let sit for 10-15mins after done.

This was delicious and super easy to make! I used vegan butter. I don’t have a mixer so I just chopped the cold butter small and then hand mixed it with a paddle style spatula. Worked like a charm!
