In this post, we'll show you how to make this delicious meal in just a few simple steps.

Ina Garten's Shrimp Scampi with linguini cooked together in a skillet.

I tried Ina Garten's (aka Barefoot Contessa) recipe for shrimp scampi and here's my take. She is my favorite chef on food network. This recipe uses a lot of lemon juice. If you don't like your shrimp scampi super lemony only use half of what the recipe calls for. Why You'll Love this Recipe

This simple and flavorful shrimp scampi with linguini is sure to become a new family favorite. It's a delicious meal that can be on the table in less than 30 minutes, making it perfect for a busy weeknight.

Plus, the combination of succulent shrimp and perfectly cooked pasta is sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Give this recipe a try and let us know what you think!

    To start, gather your ingredients:

    • Kosher salt and Freshly ground black pepper to taste
    • Linguine
    • Unsalted butter - is the most commonly used type of butter in baking, as it allows for more control over the amount of salt in the recipe.
    • Olive oil - Look for olive oils that are labeled as extra virgin, cold-pressed, and unfiltered for the highest quality.
    • Minced garlic (4 cloves) - Chopped fresh garlic can take some time to chop so I often always use the freshly minced garlic that comes already made in a jar.
    • Large shrimp (about 16 shrimp), peeled and deveined
    • Fresh parsley leaves - for garnish
    • Lemon, zest grated - This adds a nice burst of citrus flavor to the marinade to help enhance the choice of protein. Use freshly squeezed over bottled juice.
    • Squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
    • Lemon wedges for serving
    • Red pepper flakes - are small pieces of dried hot peppers, typically made from cayenne, that are crushed or ground into small flakes.
    • See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

What is Shrimp Scampi Sauce Made of?

Shrimp scampi sauce is typically made of butter, white wine, garlic, and seasonings such as salt and pepper. Some variations may also include lemon juice or parsley. The sauce is cooked in a skillet until it is slightly thickened, and is then served over pasta or other types of seafood.

What to serve with Shrimp Scampi?

Shrimp scampi is typically served with linguini pasta, which is a long and thin variety of Italian pasta. However, it can also be served with other types of pasta, such as angel hair or spaghetti. In addition to pasta, shrimp scampi can also be served with a side of vegetables, such as sautéed spinach or roasted asparagus. A simple salad or a slice of garlic bread can also be served alongside the dish to round out the meal.
