Why You Will Like Butterscotch Bars
On Saturday and Sunday mornings you can catch me watching cooking shows on Food Network. It’s fun to test and try out new recipes from different Food Network chefs. I’ll also share the recipe on this blog with you guys if I think it’s worthy! Like this recipe for Butterscotch Peanut Butter Bars from Trisha Yearwood.
Trisha has been one of my favorites to follow for a while now and I’m still watching her. I absolutely love these butterscotch peanut butter bars of hers. They make me think of Harry Potter and ButterBeer.
Ingredients Needed for Butterscotch Bars
In this section you can find substitutes or suggestions for certain ingredients. I also will try and list out what the ingredients' purpose is for.
- Butterscotch chips - Butterscotch is a type of confectionery made from butter and brown sugar. If you don’t like the taste of butterscotch try white chocolate chips or Reese’s peanut butter baking chips.
- Butter - softened at room temperature
- Granulated sugar and brown sugar - for sweetness
- Creamy Peanut Butter - Use real peanut butter that is made with just ground peanuts and salt.
- Egg - 1 large egg, at room temp
- Vanilla - Real vanilla extract, no imitation crap 😉
- Flour, salt, oatmeal for dry ingredients
- See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Can you make this without the peanut butter?
Jenna says
3X means triple the recipe.
Tom H says
Says cook time is 40 minutes. I’ll go with 350 on temp. Most things like are, correct or no? Also, I don’t know if the 3X means 3- 9X13 pans or three times the thickness
Lkearns says
Turned out yummy except for that 25 minutes was not long enough! They were still under done.
Jenna says
When the glaze sets on the bars it is very light and will blend in with the bars.
