Air Fryer Tortilla Chips – your favorite Mexican fried tortilla chips are made healthier with no oil using an air fryer! You can make nachos with them, dip them in guacamole, and also some salsa.
One of my favorite meals I love are nachos and the tortilla chips I was using before were way too HIGH in points. Plus you didn’t get very many chips for 6 points either. My favorite tortilla chip brand is Donkey Chips. This post is not sponsored btw these are all brands I have used and liked. 12 of those chips are 6 points and that is way too much for nachos.
I needed to find a better alternative to lower point tortilla chips and saw on Instagram that some people were making their own tortilla chips in the air fryer for way fewer points. Weight Watchers is mind-blowing to me that way. When you think there is no other way to make your favorite food lower in points there are people out there who know the points plan better than you and have found ways to make their favorite foods lower in points. These air fried tortilla chips are the same crunchy goodness you get from a bag of store-bought chips. I’m a ground beef nacho girl and subbing out for chicken helped lower the points for nachos.
Ingredients for Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
Tortillas of choice – can use flour, corn, or even low carb flour tortillas. Corn works best though because they get super crispy in the air fryer.
Cooking Spray
Salt
How to Make Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
Cut the corn tortillas into triangles. I stacked the tortillas up, sliced all of them in half at once and then divided them out into 9 triangles.
Place the tortilla chips into your air fryer basket and spray them with cooking spray. Sprinkle with salt and cook them for 5 minutes. Take the basket out and give them a flip. Spray them one more time and continue cooking for 3 minutes.
Tips for Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
If you are low carb or following keto diet find tortillas in the store that say low carb on them. I like La Banderita Carb Counter tortillas. They can be found at Wal-Mart.
My air fryer basket is 5.3 qts and it is helpful to use an air fryer that has a large basket. You can use a smaller basket but you will have to cook the tortilla chips in smaller batches.
Please note: Air fryer temperature settings vary according to brand and model. If your air fryer does not have the exact temperature setting called for in the recipe, consult your manual for suggested temperature settings. Cooking times may also vary or take longer than the suggested time below.
I went in search of low point corn tortillas and found Mission brand has a lot of flour and corn tortilla options out there. The Mission Yellow Corn Tortillas Extra Thin is 3 corn tortillas for 4 points. You can load up your nachos with zero point food items like rotisserie chicken, pico de gallo, lettuce, jalapenos, and Greek Yogurt! I like to stack my nachos in layers. For the nacho cheese sauce I use Tostitos Medium Con Queso Salsa. 2 tablespoons is 1 point.
If you love these air fryer tortilla chips you have to try dipping them in my 0 smart point salsa.
Oven Instructions: Preheat oven to 400º. Line a cookie sheet with a rack or tinfoil. Spread the tortilla chips on the sheet pan and spray them with cooking spray. Bake for 6 minutes. Might take up to 10 minutes, depending on your oven.
