Air Fryer Tortilla Chips -  your favorite Mexican fried tortilla chips are made healthier with no oil using an air fryer! You can make nachos with them, dip them in guacamole, and also some salsa.

Crispy salted tortilla chips made in the air fryer.

One of my favorite meals I love to make is nachos and the tortilla chips I was using before were way too HIGH in points. Especially Smoked Pulled Pork Nachos! If you make your own homemade tortilla chips in your air fryer, instead of using different store-bought brands the points are much better, plus you can have more.

The air fryer is one of my favorite kitchen appliances. Check out some of these recipes! Air Fryer Omelette, Air Fryer Poutine, or Air Fryer Turkey Breast!

Why You Will Love This Recipe

These air fried tortilla chips are the same crunchy goodness you get from a bag of store-bought chips. I'm a ground beef nacho girl and subbing out for chicken helped lower the points for nachos.

I needed to find a better alternative to lower point tortilla chips and saw on Instagram that some people were making their own tortilla chips in the air fryer for way fewer points. Weight Watchers is mind-blowing to me that way.

When you think there is no other way to make your favorite food lower in points there are people out there who know the points plan better than you and have found ways to make their favorite foods lower in points.

    Ingredients Needed

Tortillas of choice - can use flour, corn, or even low carb flour tortillas. Corn works best though because they get super crispy in the air fryer.

Cooking Spray or olive oil - the olive oil will add extra calories and points

    Salt - for seasoning

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

How to Make Air Fryer Tortilla Chips

Set your air fryer temperature to 350 degrees.

Cut the corn tortillas into triangles. I stacked the tortillas up, sliced all of them in half at once, and then divided them out into 9 triangles.

Place the tortilla chips into your air fryer basket and spray them with cooking spray. Sprinkle with salt and cook them for 4 to 6 minutes. Take the basket out and give the chips a test. If the chips still aren't crisp, continue cooking for another 2 minutes.

Disclaimer: Cooking times will vary depending on what type of air fryer you use. If the settings above do not work for you adjust accordingly.

Oven Instructions: Preheat oven to 400º. Line a cookie sheet with a rack or tinfoil. Spread the tortilla chips on the sheet pan and spray them with cooking spray. Bake for 6 minutes.  Might take up to 10 minutes, depending on your oven.

    Tips for Air Fryers

The air fryer is so great for cooking simple basic food like air fryer bacon wrapped chicken breast, air fryer steak, and. Cook up some air fryer chicken breasts for the week and use the chicke air fryer hard-boiled eggsn for quesadillas, crispy cobb salad, or DIY chipotle burrito bowls to use for lunch or dinner.

Some air fryers require preheating and some do not. Be sure to check your air fryer manual.  If the food ever burns or doesn’t cook properly this could be why the recipe didn’t work for you.

Overcrowding: Do not overcrowd the basket. Place items in a single layer in the air fryer basket or some food will not cook properly or all the way through.

What air fryer do I use? Cosori 4 Qt Air Fryer- This air fryer doesn't require any preheating and has several different functions for cooking chicken, meat, frozen foods, etc. There are 5 different functions.

    Low Point Tortilla Chips

I went in search of low point corn tortillas and found Mission brand has a lot of flour and corn tortilla options out there. The Mission Yellow Corn Tortillas Extra Thin is 3 corn tortillas for 4 points. You can load up your nachos with zero point food items like rotisserie chicken, pico de gallo, lettuce, jalapenos, and Greek Yogurt! I like to stack my nachos in layers. For the nacho cheese sauce I use Tostitos Medium Con Queso Salsa. 2 tablespoons is 1 point.

If you love these air fryer tortilla chips you have to try dipping them in my 0 smart point salsa.

    Oven Baking Instructions

Don't have an air fryer no problem?

Oven Instructions: Preheat oven to 400º. Line a cookie sheet with a rack or tinfoil. Spread the tortilla chips on the sheet pan and spray them with cooking spray. Bake for 6 minutes.  Might take up to 10 minutes, depending on your oven.

    Recipe FAQs

How do you keep tortillas from moving in an air fryer?

Most air fryers come with accessories like trivets. Place the trivet over the tortilla chips to keep them from flying around!

Since air fryers cook food with circulating air over the top, the tortilla chips might move around a lot in the air fryer. Use a trivet and set them over the top of the chips to keep them from moving around in the air fryer.

A trivet will help prevent the chips from flying around in the air fryer. I mentioned that under the section titled Tips for Air Fryer Tortilla Chips. 🙂
