Cooking mushrooms on a Blackstone griddle is a delightful way to enhance their natural flavors while achieving a perfect texture. The process is straightforward and can be easily mastered, whether you are a novice or an experienced cook.
Start by selecting fresh mushrooms, such as cremini, button, or portobello, and clean them thoroughly with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt. Avoid soaking them in water as mushrooms can absorb liquid and become soggy. Slice the mushrooms evenly to ensure they cook at the same rate.

Ingredients Needed:
- Fresh mushrooms (such as button, cremini, or portobello)
- Olive oil or melted butter - Look for olive oils that are labeled as extra virgin, cold-pressed, and unfiltered for the highest quality.
- Garlic, minced - Chopped fresh garlic can take some time to chop so I often always use the freshly minced garlic that comes already made in a jar.
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: a squeeze of lemon juice or a splash of balsamic vinegar

How to Make Blackstone Mushrooms
Step 1: Preheat the Griddle: Preheat your griddle over medium-high heat. You want it hot enough to sear the mushrooms but not so hot that they burn quickly.
Step 2: In a bowl add the sliced mushrooms with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to Coat.
Step 3: Cook the Mushrooms: Once the griddle is hot, add the mushrooms to the griddle in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the griddle to ensure each mushroom gets a nice sear. Cook the mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes, flipping them halfway through. They should become golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.
Recipe Tips and Serving Suggestions:
Season and Serve: During the last minute of cooking, add the minced garlic and thyme. Stir well to combine and cook just until the garlic becomes fragrant, about 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Clean the mushrooms by gently wiping them with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt. Avoid washing them under running water as mushrooms absorb moisture and can become soggy. Slice larger mushrooms into thick pieces, keeping smaller ones whole to ensure even cooking.
If desired, add a squeeze of lemon juice or a splash of balsamic vinegar for a tangy finish.
Transfer the mushrooms to a serving dish and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
Griddled mushrooms make a versatile side dish that pairs beautifully with steak, chicken, or fish. They can also be added to salads, pasta, or served on toast for a delicious appetizer
