Grilled pineapple is a delicious tropical fruit that has been cooked on a grill to give it a caramelized exterior and an enhanced sweet and tangy taste. It makes for a great addition to any BBQ or summer menu and can be enjoyed on its own as a healthy snack or used as a topping on burgers, salads, or desserts.

This grilled pineapple is marinated in honey and butter that makes the perfect dessert for Summer. It is light and refreshing and great after a heavy Summer BBQ potluck.
When do you start firing up the grill for Summer and Spring?? Do you wait until the weather is warmer or are you one of those people that grill on year long? I like to wait until Spring when the weather starts warming up to above 30 degrees every day. The weather in Fargo, ND can get super cold and I’d rather be using my slow cooker or instant pot during January and February.

Ingredients Needed

- Fresh or Canned Pineapple - Fresh pineapple is a must here but you can not always find a good fresh pineapple all year long. It is ok to use canned pineapple rings for this recipe. They are kind of fragile to work with so use a utensil that can easily pick them up off the grill.
- Honey - Get the good stuff for this which means pure honey. No fake, imitation, or completely raw honey here, please.
- Butter - I like to use I Can’t Believe it’s not butter light or Lando Lakes light butter. You can find it next to the other butter in your grocery store.
- See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
How to make Grilled Pineapple
Step 1: Place pineapple in a large resealable plastic bag. Add honey, butter, and salt. Seal bag, and shake to coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably overnight.

Step 2: Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil grate.
Step 3: Grill pineapple for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until heated through and grill marks appear.

Please note: juices and sugars from the pineapple marinade can easily stick to a grill when the food is cooking. They burn and turn black easily.
Top with ice cream or cool whip or fresh herbs like cilantro.
What to serve with Grilled Pineapple
Grilled pineapple is great for a Summer dessert after you’ve eaten grilled fish or seafood on a hot Summer day.
You can serve this with Ninja Creami Vanilla Ice Cream or if I’m really watching my calories I like to scoop some cool whip on top and garnish it with some fresh cilantro.
Make a fresh fruit salsa like this Viral Strawberry Salsa with Cholate "Chips" and add the pineapple to it.
Grilled Chicken and Pineapple is also a popular dish to make in the Summer.

Recipe FAQs
Grilled pineapple is great Summer dessert. The sugars from the pineapple can start to caramelize and produce a really sweet treat.
Start off by slicing the top of the pineapple off. Then use a serrated knife to cut the skin of the pineapple. Use a pineapple corer to get the inside of the pineapple out. There's also lots of tools for cutting a pineapple available online.
This is completely optional and it depends on how you want to serve it. If you don't cut the core out you can always just eat around it.
