pumpkin cream cheese swirl bars 003

If you haven’t tried this recipe for pumpkin Nutella swirl bars then what are you waiting for? There are only a few ingredients that you need: angel food cake mix and canned pumpkin. Nutella gets swirled into the bars to create a chocolaty pumpkin bar.

When I first tried making this recipe using cream cheese to make swirls it was quite the struggle.  The picture shows there's cream cheese in the bars which is a mistake and there should be just Nutella. I plan on remaking this recipe to take a new photo. Nutella worked better than the cream cheese because it was easier to swirl in the pumpkin mix. Sometimes we can’t always get the recipe perfect on the first try and that is ok. That’s how you live and learn. 😉

What Ingredients do I need?

In this section, you can find substitutes or suggestions for certain ingredients. I also will try and list out what the ingredients' purpose is for.

Angel Food Cake Mix  - 1 16 oz box where you just add water Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix (amazon)

Canned Pumpkin -  Do not use the pumpkin pie filling for this. The texture and consistency won’t be the same!

Nutella - For an easy swirl consistency melt the Nutella in the microwave for a little bit. That will help swirl the chocolate batter into the cake mix.

My pumpkin stash from last year is almost out, and there's 2 or 3 cans left. SAD!  Better stock up, so that I can make even more pumpkin goodness!
