Why You Will Love This Recipe
Most store-bought jams and sauce have so much extra sugar added to them but did you know it is super easy to make fruit sauce at home? After making my Slow Cooker Homemade Applesauce (No Sugar) I was wondering if you could do the same thing with other types of fruits and this is the first time I’ve been able to get strawberries to work.
It took me a couple of tries to get this right but I finally did and I was very impressed with the taste and how much the sauce was so much like a jam consistency without using any pectin or cornstarch. Then I got super excited as to what this sauce could go on top of.Â
There’s no reason to add any extra sugar or sugar substitutes this recipe because the fruit is sweet enough on their own.
This sugar-free strawberry sauce is great for people who are low carb, keto, or trying to cut back on sugar intake.
It can easily be doubled or tripled. I like to make smaller batchers for myself.
Ingredients Needed
Strawberries, sliced - Strawberries are a sweet and juicy fruit that are loved by many. They are known for their bright red color, small size, and unique shape. They are also packed with nutrients, including vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants.
Lemon juice - Helps add a nice fresh burst of citrus flavor to the strawberries. It is known for its acidic and tangy flavor, which makes it a popular addition to marinades, dressings, and sauces.
Water - This ingredient is free and comes from your faucet inside your home. 🙂
See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
How to Make Sugar-Free Strawberry Sauce
Step 1: Slice strawberries. Pour into medium sized saucepan. Add water and lemon juice and cook the strawberries on low to medium heat for 20 minutes.
Step 2: Mash the strawberries with a potato masher while they are cooking until they resemble a sauce consistency. For a smoother sauce use a hand-held immersion blender.
Check and stir the sauce frequently. Make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn.
Tips for Sugar-Free Strawberry Sauce
A pound of strawberries boiled down will equal about a ¾ cup to 1 cup of sauce. There are 12 tablespoons of sauce per ¾ cup and 16 tablespoons for 1 cup.
The whole entire cup is zero points. You can double the sauce and add more strawberries to make more.
This sauce is zero points because the strawberries are not blended, they are simply boiled down to the sauce consistency.
What to Serve with Strawberry Sauce?
Imagine this super tasty sugar-free strawberry sauce on top of peanut butter toast, vanilla bean ice cream, Banana Bread Waffles, Blackstone Protein Pancakes, etc.
To make banana chocolate chip ice cream simply puree some frozen sliced bananas in a blender or food processor and top with strawberry sauce.

No, it should be like it is shown in the picture.

Made this but mine was pretty runny. I estimated that 1pound of berries would be 3 cups, is that about right? Is yours runny?
Jenna says
Awesome! Glad he liked it Faith.

This is soooo good! I make applesauce, and my husband wondered if I could make a "strawberry sauce", basically the strawberry version of applesauce. Most of the recipes I looked had sugar as an ingredient, which we did not want and did not make sense because strawberries are already sweet...I found your recipe and I made the sauce the same day, as we have a lot of strawberries. It turned out so well, and my husband is very happy!
Jenna says
Sweet like strawberries.
Carmen says
what is the taste profile of this! Is it sour?
Jenna says
