As many of you know I am a huge fan of Aldi and I grocery shop there on a weekly basis. The red bag chicken is super popular there and very popular amongst Facebook Groups. Get some of their specially selected Brioche Buns for an easy chicken sandwich dinner.

I love Aldi cause it's reasonable and a fairly cheap place to buy groceries at. I just get a lot of basics, like spices, chicken stock, beans, and tomatoes there. Their grass fed beef is also my favorite.

What is Aldi's Red Bag Chicken?

Aldi's Red Bag Chicken, officially known as Kirkwood Breaded Chicken Breast Fillets, comes in a distinctive red bag that has become a notable staple for many. These frozen chicken fillets are not only affordable but also incredibly versatile, making them a favorite for quick dinners, sandwiches, or even as a standalone dish.

    Why Use an Air Fryer?

The air fryer is a revolutionary kitchen appliance that uses hot air circulation to cook food, offering a healthier alternative to traditional frying methods. When it comes to Aldi's Red Bag Chicken, using an air fryer can bring out the best in these fillets, providing a perfectly crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy and tender.

Cooking Aldi's Red Bag Chicken in an air fryer is straightforward and quick. Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieve that golden, crispy perfection:

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for Aldi Red Bag Chicken.
    • 1 pack of Aldi's Red Bag Chicken
    • Olive oil spray (optional for extra crispiness)

How to Make Aldi’s Red Bag Chicken in Air Fryer

Step 1 Set your air fryer to 400°F (190°C) and let it preheat for about 3-5 minutes. Preheating helps ensure even cooking.

Step 2 Lightly spray the fillets with olive oil. This step is optional but can help achieve an extra crispy texture. Place the chicken fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking.

Step 3 Set the timer for 15-18 minutes. Halfway through cooking, flip the fillets to ensure both sides are equally crisp.

Check for Doneness: Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption. If needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

    Variations to Try

Aldi's Red Bag Chicken is versatile, and there are countless ways to enjoy it beyond the classic sandwich. Here are a few creative ideas:

    • Chicken Sandwich: This chicken is very similar to Air Fryer Chik Fil A Sandwich. Get some Brioche Buns, pickles, and mayo, from Aldi.
    • Chicken Parmesan: Top the fillets with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese, then bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Try this Air Fryer Parmesan Chicken (Ready in 20 minutes)
    • Salad Topper: Slice the crispy chicken and toss it over a bed of mixed greens with your favorite dressing.
    • Chicken Tacos: Dice the cooked fillets, and fill taco shells with chicken, avocado, salsa, and shredded cheese.

Pro Tips for Aldi Red Bag Chicken

    • Arrange the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece so the hot air can circulate.
    • There is no need to thaw the chicken before cooking. Cook it straight from frozen for the best texture.
    • Flip the chicken halfway through cooking so both sides become evenly crispy and golden brown.
    • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F before serving.
    • If you like extra crispy chicken, add 2 to 3 additional minutes of cooking time at the end.
    • Every air fryer cooks a little differently, so check the chicken during the last few minutes and adjust the cooking time if needed.

    Serving Suggestions

Aldi Red Bag Chicken is incredibly versatile and can be served in many different ways. Make a classic chicken sandwich with brioche buns, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and your favorite sauce.

Slice the chicken over a Caesar salad, wrap it in a tortilla with fresh vegetables, or serve it alongside French fries, sweet potato fries, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, roasted vegetables, or a simple side salad. It also makes an easy protein for rice bowls and pasta dishes.

    Storage

Store leftover cooked chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To reheat, place the chicken in the air fryer at 350°F for 3 to 5 minutes or until heated through and crispy again. Avoid microwaving if possible, as it can soften the breading.

You can also freeze leftover cooked chicken in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating in the air fryer.
