Why You Will Like This Recipe

Lightened up chicken alfredo pizza is a delicious pizza variant that combines tender chicken, creamy Alfredo sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese on a thin and crispy crust. This pizza is ideal for those who want to indulge in a flavorful pizza without compromising their health goals. The recipe uses low-fat ingredients and incorporates fresh vegetables to add an extra crunch and nutrition to the dish.

I have been craving pizza lately, and not the cauliflower pizza crust that everyone has been raving abou. Ew... I'd rather have a real pizza crust and I thought pitas would be a healthier way to lighten up pizza.

When I worked at the dining center back in good old college days, I'd be one making pita pizzas in the back of the kitchen. They would have Greek, pepperoni, meat, etc.... All were very good. Being a Cooks' Assistant or helper was one of my most favorite jobs ever. Some recipes on this site have been inspired from that past job like this pita pizza.

    What Ingredients do I need?

    • Pita Bread - The pita that I found was low carb, higher fiber pita with only 60 calories and 2 grams of fat. The brand is Joseph's Pita.
    • Alfredo Sauce - I used store-bought alfredo sauce from Trader Joe's
    • Chicken - shredded rotisserie chicken to make these pizzas super fast and easy to make.
    • Cheese - lite or part-skim mozzarella

How to Make Chicken Alfredo Pizzas

    1. Preheat Your Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it nice and hot for baking.
    2. Prepare the Pitas: Lightly brush each pita bread with olive oil. This will help them crisp up nicely in the oven.
    3. Layer the Sauce and Chicken: Spread a generous amount of Alfredo sauce over each pita. Top with the shredded chicken, ensuring it's evenly distributed.
    4. Add Cheese and Toppings: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the chicken. Add any optional toppings you desire. Season with a bit of salt and pepper.
    5. Bake to Perfection: Place the pita pizzas on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the pita are crispy.
    6. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice into wedges. Serve hot and enjoy the creamy, cheesy goodness!

Set the time for 4 minutes in the air fryer at 350 degrees.
