Cooking chicken sausage in an air fryer is a simple and delicious way to enjoy a healthier version of this popular dish. The air fryer's ability to cook food with less oil without sacrificing flavor makes it an ideal method for preparing chicken sausages. Here's an easy recipe to follow:

Why You Will Like This Recipe

This recipe for chicken sausage in an air fryer is not only quick and easy but also versatile, allowing you to experiment with different flavors and seasonings to match your preference. Enjoy a delicious meal with minimal effort and cleanup!

Chicken Sausages and Bratwursts take the same amount of time to cook in the air fryer. About 10 - 12 minutes. Check out Bratwursts in Air Fryer.

My favorite chicken sausages contain a good amount of protein, almost 20 grams per chicken link. Serve with your favorite buns.

    Ingredients Needed

    • 4 chicken sausages - pre-cooked or fresh, depending on preference
    • Olive oil spray (optional) - or a good olive oil
    • Your choice of seasonings (optional, such as Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, or simply salt and pepper)
    • See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Sausages

Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer: Start by preheating your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). This step ensures that your chicken sausages will start cooking at the right temperature for a perfectly even cook.

Step 2: Prepare the Chicken Sausages: If you're using pre-cooked chicken sausages, you can proceed directly to cooking them. For fresh chicken sausages, ensure they are not frozen and lightly prick them with a fork to prevent them from bursting as they cook. Optionally, you can lightly spray or brush them with olive oil and season them according to your taste.

Step 3: Cook the Chicken Sausages: Place the chicken sausages in the air fryer basket, ensuring they're not touching to allow the air to circulate freely around them. Cook for about 10-12 minutes if they're pre-cooked or 15-20 minutes if they're fresh, turning them halfway through the cooking time.

    Recipe Tips for Chicken Sausage

The exact time may vary depending on the size of the sausages and your air fryer model, so it's a good idea to start checking them a few minutes before they're supposed to be done.

Check for Doneness: The chicken sausages are ready when they have a slightly crisp exterior and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) when checked with a meat thermometer.

Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, let the sausages rest for a few minutes before serving. They can be enjoyed on their own, with your favorite dipping sauce, or as part of a larger meal alongside vegetables or a salad.

Storage: Keep sausages stored in air tight containers throughout the week so you can enjoy them any day!

    Recipe FAQS

Are chicken sausages healthier than pork sausages?

Yes, generally! Chicken sausages usually have less fat and fewer calories than traditional pork sausages, making them a leaner option.

Can I cook chicken sausages in the air fryer?

Absolutely! Cook at 375°F for about 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through. It’s fast, easy, and makes the outside nice and crispy.

What flavors do chicken sausages come in?

Chicken sausage comes in a variety of flavors including Italian, apple, garlic, or even cheddar. My favorite types of sausage are made with cheddar.
