If you are looking for a simple, comforting dinner that practically cooks itself, this Crock Pot Creamy Italian Chicken is one of those recipes you will want on repeat. It is creamy, flavorful, and made with just a handful of affordable ingredients you can easily grab at Aldi. This is the kind of meal I make on busy days when I still want something warm and satisfying without spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

What I love most about this recipe is how versatile it is. You can serve it over rice, pile it onto a sandwich, or even scoop it into a wrap or tortilla. It fits perfectly into a realistic weekly routine where you want meals that are easy, filling, and not boring by day three.

The cream of chicken soup and cream cheese makes the most delicious gravy. It is good on top of egg noodles, rice, mashed potatoes, and if you're low carb use cauliflower mashed potatoes.

Recipe Tip: Use slow cooker liners for easy clean up!

If the sauce is really thick add in some water or milk to thin it out a bit.

Serve chicken and sauce over cooked egg noodles or rice. Enjoy

Step 2: Cover and cook on Low heat for 6 hours. (OR on High for 3 hours) Remove lid and stir mixture together. Cut chicken into bite-size pieces. (If the sauce seems too thick, you can thin it out with a little milk or water)

    Instant Pot Creamy Italian Chicken

For the Instant Pot, set the pressure cook time to 20 minutes.

Pro Tips for Crock Pot Italian Chicken

    • Let the cream cheese soften slightly before stirring to help it blend smoothly
    • Do not overcook the chicken, especially on high, to avoid dryness
    • Shred the chicken in the crock pot to keep all the flavor in the sauce
    • If you want extra creaminess, add a couple tablespoons of Greek yogurt at the end
    • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving

    Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days. This recipe reheats very well, making it great for meal prep.

To reheat, warm it in the microwave in short intervals, stirring in between to keep the sauce smooth. You can also reheat it on the stove over low heat.

For longer storage, freeze in a sealed container for up to 2 months. Let it thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.

    Recipe FAQs

Can you cook chicken in a crock pot?

Yes, you can cook chicken in a crock pot. Crock pots are a great way to cook chicken because they allow for slow, even cooking that results in tender, juicy meat.

Do I need to wash my chicken before adding it to a crock pot?

No, it is not recommended to wash chicken before adding it to a crock pot. Washing chicken can actually spread harmful bacteria around your kitchen and increase the risk of foodborne illness.

This is so good! I used the garlic and herb seasoning instead of the Italian! My daughter who is very picky and she loved it! This will be on my weekly rotation!

I never use the nutrition info to figure out points for my recipes and I even stated what I used in the notes section of the recipe. The nutrition calculator doesn't calculate zero point foods correctly like chicken. The chicken is added into the nutrition info so of course, it's going to be wrong. Don't really understand why people need to argue about this?

Agreed that the nutrition information posted gives 8 points on the Blue plan per current app calculator if you're trying to enter as a single serving. I went into the app and built the recipe myself out of the ingredients and it tells me I get 3 pts per serving, for 8 servings. Simple math of dividing the 20 oz of soup by 8 servings gives you about 1/3 of a cup sauce per serving. I made it a little easier on myself switched serving to 6 and it is 5 pts. If this helps anyone.

Unfortunately, I can not see what you entered into the recipe builder and that does sound off. Double-check you entered everything correctly and the number of servings the recipe makes.

When I put this in my WW app it came up as 8 and I’m on purple. What did I do wrong?

It's kind of like how you make gravy. Add in some cornstarch and wait till warms up and starts to get thick.
