Why Rocky Raod Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami?
The combination of different textures is a key factor. Rocky road typically includes chocolate ice cream, marshmallows, and nuts (often almonds or walnuts). This mix provides a delightful contrast between the creamy ice cream, the soft, gooey marshmallows, and the crunchy nuts.
The flavor profile of rocky road is well-balanced. The rich, sweet chocolate ice cream pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the marshmallows and the slightly savory, nutty taste of the added nuts. This balance makes it a satisfying treat for many people.
For many, rocky road ice cream evokes a sense of nostalgia. It has been a staple in ice cream parlors and grocery stores for decades, often associated with childhood memories and comfort food.
Ingredients Needed for Rocky Road Ice Cream

- 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips
- See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
How to Make Rockey Road Ice Cream
Step 1 In a medium mixing bowl, almond milk and protein powder. Whisk the ingredients together until they are fully dissolved. This may take a few minutes to ensure a smooth mixture. Add in marshmallow fluff.
Step 2 Once fully mixed, pour the chocolate mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container. Make sure not to fill past the max fill line.
Step 3 Place the lid on the pint container and freeze it for at least 24 hours. This ensures the mixture is completely solid and ready for processing.
After freezing, remove the pint container from the freezer and place it in the Ninja Creami outer bowl.
Insert the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami machine.
Select the “Ice Cream” function and let the machine process the mixture. This will take a few minutes.
Serve and Enjoy:
Top with additional peanut nuts and chocolate chips, or more marshmallow fluff.
Scoop the creamy chocolate ice cream into bowls or cones.
You can also add mix-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or marshmallows if desired. Simply use the “Mix-ins” function on the Ninja Creami after adding your favorite ingredients.
Rocky Road Ice Cream Recipe Tips
- Once the cycle is complete, check the consistency of your ice cream. If it’s too crumbly or powdery, you can select the “Re-spin” function to achieve a creamier texture.
- For an extra rich flavor, you can substitute half of the whole milk with half-and-half.
- To make it dairy-free, use coconut milk and coconut cream instead of whole milk and heavy cream.
- Experiment with different flavors by adding a teaspoon of instant coffee for a mocha twist or a splash of mint extract for a mint chocolate version
- If you have any leftovers, place them back in the pint container and cover tightly. Store in the freezer for future enjoyment.
- Enjoy your homemade chocolate ice cream!
