If you have been on TikTok lately, you have probably seen the viral cinnamon roll hack that takes store bought rolls and turns them into something soft, gooey, and bakery-level good. The secret is simple. Heavy cream. It soaks into the rolls as they bake and creates a rich, almost homemade texture without any extra work.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

    • Uses store bought cinnamon rolls for a shortcut like this bread made from crescent rolls - Cinnamon Roll Loaf or Crescent Roll Bread Hack
    • Turns out soft, fluffy, and extra gooey
    • Only a few ingredients needed
    • Perfect for beginners or busy mornings
    • Great for holidays, brunch, or dessert
    • Easy to customize with extra toppings

    Brown Sugar and Butter Topping

When making a batch of regular cinnamon rolls from scratch, usually the brown sugar and butter mixture is spread on top of the dough. Instead, this mixture just gets poured over the top of the already made buns. Pretty easy peasy.

Some accounts only use the heavy cream on the bottom of the pan but I think the brown sugar and melted butter give it a little something extra.

What Ingredients do I need for Cinnamon Rolls?

Ingredients needed for Cinnamon Rolls with Heavy Cream.
    • Canned Cinnamon Rolls  -  Depending on the amount of cinnamon rolls you need and how much people you plan on feeding get whatever size can you need. For two servings usually the 5 count cinnamon roll can is fine.
    • Heavy Cream - The videos Iโ€™ve seen on Tiktok really have no set amount of heavy cream that needs to be used. They just pour it on the bottom of the pan until itโ€™s completely covered.
    • Butter  - is the most commonly used type of butter in baking, as it allows for more control over the amount of salt in the recipe.
    • Brown Sugar -  Is made by combining granulated white sugar with molasses, which gives it a brown color and a slightly different taste than regular white sugar.

See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

How to Make Tiktok Cinnamon Rolls

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Place the cinnamon rolls on the bottom of a greased pan. Pour heavy cream on the bottom of the pan until the bottom of the pan is completely covered in heavy cream. 8X8 pan.

Spread the icing from the can over the cinnamon rolls when they have cooled off a bit. Enjoy!

    Pro Tips

    • Do not skip the heavy cream. It is what makes this recipe special
    • Use room temperature heavy cream so it absorbs better
    • Pour the cream slowly so it distributes evenly
    • Cover with foil for the first half of baking if you want extra soft rolls
    • Add chopped pecans or walnuts for texture
    • A pinch of salt can help balance the sweetness

    Storage

Store leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To reheat, microwave for about 20 to 30 seconds until warm. You can also cover them with foil and warm them in the oven.

If they seem a little dry after reheating, add a small splash of cream before warming to bring back moisture.

Recipe FAQS for Cinnamon Rolls with Heavy Cream

Do I have to use heavy cream?

Yes, that is what makes this recipe work. Milk will not give the same rich result.

Can I use homemade cinnamon rolls?

Yes, but this recipe is designed to upgrade store bought rolls. Homemade dough may need adjusted baking time.

    Will the rolls be soggy?

No. The cream bakes into the rolls and creates a soft, fluffy texture instead of making them soggy.

These TikTok Cinnamon Rolls with Heavy Cream are one of those recipes that feels like a cheat code. You get all the flavor and texture of homemade cinnamon rolls without the time or effort. Perfect for when you want something warm, sweet, and comforting with almost no work.

Yeah just use less next time. Some of the videos I see online don't really measure or list the amount of cream they use.

Pretty good. Although I think the proportions are off. 1 pint of heavy cream for 5 cinnamon rolls is way too much. I used half that amount, cooked it 10 minutes longer and it was still really soupy. Yummy, but didnโ€™t get the caramelization it would have with less liquid. Now I know for next time: )
