Why You Will Love This Recipe

Cinnamon rolls are a beloved pastry for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the aroma of warm cinnamon and sweet dough wafting through the air is enough to make anyone's mouth water.

The combination of the soft and fluffy bread with the gooey filling creates a perfect balance of textures and flavors. The cinnamon sugar filling adds a sweet and slightly spicy taste that pairs perfectly with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

Additionally, cinnamon rolls are versatile and can be enjoyed for breakfast, dessert, or as a snack. They are also a relatively easy treat to make at home, which adds to their appeal. Overall, the decadent and comforting nature of cinnamon rolls make them a favorite for people of all ages.

    Brown Sugar and Butter Topping

When making a batch of regular cinnamon rolls from scratch, usually the brown sugar and butter mixture is spread on top of the dough. Instead, this mixture just gets poured over the top of the already made buns. Pretty easy peasy.

Some accounts only use the heavy cream on the bottom of the pan but I think the brown sugar and melted butter give it a little something extra.

What Ingredients do I need for Cinnamon Rolls?

Ingredients needed for Cinnamon Rolls with Heavy Cream.
    • Canned Cinnamon Rolls  -  Depending on the amount of cinnamon rolls you need and how much people you plan on feeding get whatever size can you need. For two servings usually the 5 count cinnamon roll can is fine.
    • Heavy Cream - The videos I’ve seen on Tiktok really have no set amount of heavy cream that needs to be used. They just pour it on the bottom of the pan until it’s completely covered.
    • Butter  - is the most commonly used type of butter in baking, as it allows for more control over the amount of salt in the recipe.
    • Brown Sugar -  Is made by combining granulated white sugar with molasses, which gives it a brown color and a slightly different taste than regular white sugar.

See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

    Recipe FAQS

    Why add the heavy cream?

Some heavy cream gets poured into the bottom of the pan and while the rolls are baking in the oven the heavy cream will be absorbed into the dough.  In the videos I've seen, there really is no set amount of heavy cream used. It just gets poured until the cream is covering all the rolls.

Yeah just use less next time. Some of the videos I see online don't really measure or list the amount of cream they use.

Pretty good. Although I think the proportions are off. 1 pint of heavy cream for 5 cinnamon rolls is way too much. I used half that amount, cooked it 10 minutes longer and it was still really soupy. Yummy, but didn’t get the caramelization it would have with less liquid. Now I know for next time: )
