Cooking eggs in the air fryer is one of the easiest ways to make soft, jammy, or hard-boiled eggs without boiling water on the stove.

After testing several batches of eggs in my air fryer, I found that small changes in cooking time make a big difference in texture. Just a couple of extra minutes can turn a creamy jammy yolk into a fully cooked hard-boiled egg.

If you’re looking for a simple method that works consistently, this guide shows exactly how long to cook soft eggs, jammy eggs, and hard-boiled eggs in the air fryer.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

    • The air fryer creates a consistent heat environment which leads to evenly cooked eggs every time.
    • There is no water to boil which means no pot cleanup and no waiting for water to heat up.
    • The eggs peel surprisingly easily which is ideal for deviled eggs or egg salad.
    • It works with any style of air fryer including basket, oven style, and dual zone models.
    • Air fryer eggs are great for: lunch and breakfast! They make great sandwiches.

Air Fryer Egg Timing Chart for 250

The exact timing can vary slightly depending on your air fryer model and egg size, but these times worked consistently during testing at 250°F.

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for air fryer hard boiled eggs.

Large Eggs - Use large eggs straight from the carton. They do not need to be at room temperature and you do not need water or ice cubes inside the air fryer. You will need an ice bath after cooking which helps them peel easier.

How to Make Hard-Boiled Eggs in Air Fryer

Step 1: Place some cold eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket, set the timer to 16 minutes and temperature 250 and let the air fryer cook them. So easy and simple to make.

Step 2: When they are done instantly transfer the eggs to an ice bath or cold water bath to stop the cooking. Then peel and enjoy!

Use some Everything But the Bagel Seasoning to top the eggs with, or eat them however you like. Make some deviled eggs or an egg salad sandwich with these.

    Jammy Eggs in Air Fryer

Jammy eggs are one of the most popular egg textures because the yolk stays thick, creamy, and slightly runny.

    To make jammy eggs:

    1. Preheat the air fryer to 250°F
    2. Cook eggs for 13 minutes
    3. Transfer immediately to an ice bath

When sliced open, the yolk should be soft and custardy while the whites remain fully set. Serve on toasted buttered bread and top it with some Onion chili crunch!

Soft Boiled Eggs in Air Fryer

    1. Preheat the air fryer to 250°F
    2. Cook eggs for 11 - 12 minutes.
    3. Transfer immediately to an ice bath. Please note soft boiled eggs will be harder to peel!

    Tips for Easy Peeling

Sometimes boiled eggs can be difficult to peel even jammy ones especially if the egg white is still warm! These tips help make the process easier.

    • Use slightly older eggs - Eggs that are about 1–2 weeks old tend to peel better than very fresh eggs.
    • Don’t skip the ice bath - Cooling the eggs quickly helps separate the egg white from the shell.
    • Crack the wide end first - The air pocket is usually at the wider end of the egg, which makes peeling easier.

    Uses for Hard-Boiled Eggs

Jammy eggs are incredibly versatile and work well in many dishes. Try them with:

    • Ramen or noodle bowls - Tiktok Ramen with Soy Sauce and Brown Sugar
    • Rice bowls
    • Salads
    • Avocado toast
    • Buttered toast with chili crisp or everything bagel seasoning

    How to Store

Keep cooked hard boiled eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. If you store them unpeeled they tend to stay fresher longer.

Overcrowding: Do not overcrowd the basket. Place items in a single layer in the air fryer basket or some food will not cook properly or all the way through.

    Recipe FAQs

Why are my egg whites undercooked in the air fryer?

If the egg whites are still soft or slightly translucent, the eggs likely need a little more cooking time. Air fryer temperatures can vary between models, so adding one extra minute of cook time usually solves the problem.

Why did my jammy eggs turn into hard-boiled eggs?

Egg yolks cook quickly once they reach a certain temperature. Even one or two extra minutes in the air fryer can turn a jammy yolk into a fully cooked yolk. If you prefer creamy jammy eggs, try sticking close to the 13-minute timing at 250°F.

Do I really need an ice bath after cooking eggs?

Yes, the ice bath is important. Placing the eggs in ice water stops the cooking process immediately, which helps prevent overcooked yolks and also makes the eggs easier to peel.

    Description

Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs - are so easy you'll never make them on your stove top again!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 6 large eggs (cold)

    Instructions

    1. Set your wire rack that came with your air fryer inside the basket and place the eggs on top of the wire rack. If your air fryer didn't come with a wire rack then just place them in the bottom of the air fryer basket. I've done it with and without that and both methods work. I just find that the wire rack is easier to lift them all out of the basket at once.
    2. Set the temp to 250  (121 C) and the timer to 16 minutes. After the eggs are done in the air fryer take them out and put them in an ice water bath to stop the cooking. Peel the eggs and enjoy!
    3. For Jammy eggs - Set the temperature to 250 and air fry for 13 minutes. Remove eggs immediatly into an ice bath.

This method works for a 1400 to 1700 watt air fryer. Might have to cook longer for smaller air fryers. Please check the wattage on your air fryer before cooking the eggs.

I haven't tried this yet. I did want to say I'm so sorry you actually have to tell people dont get mad at you because theirs didn't turn out. It seems there is very little common sense left in this world. I will try your method next time i make "boiled eggs". . I won't scream at you if I message them up either! Lol

Perfect! I can't believe how easy this is. I've been trying so many things in our air fryer and was excited to come across your page. Your notes and directions are great as well. Thank you.

Farberware "Digital Oil-Less Fryer". Tested with one 250°/16 minutes then ice bath. Yolk was a little too soft. Did the rest at 250°/17 minutes, left in basket for about 2 minutes, then ice bath. PERFECT!

If I am just making eggs for salad, I make an egg loaf in my IP, but today's batch is for deviled eggs and Easter eggs to color.

My single egg was perfect! Wish I had made all of them in there!! I will cook them for 18 minutes instead of 15 just because I prefer a complete hard boil of my yolk, but it was delicious, and wish I didn't have to share with my 9 year old! LOL

I have the PowerAirFryer Oven. I'm currently boiling 35 eggs on the stove for Easter coloring. I took one out to try in my air fryer, haha! It's on 270 for 15, I will let you know how it turns out! I'm excited to see!
I raise chickens for the eggs and to sell but they all lay shades of brown and fresh eggs never peel well so we buy*gasp* white eggs for coloring every year.

I have a Groumia Air Fryer and these eggs turned out perfectly. No cracked eggs. The slight brown spots wiped right off. I will always use the air fryer for boiled eggs from now on. Thank you for the recipe. I did preheat, set it at 250 for 18 minutes, I did them 6 at a time just because this was my first time and I wanted to see if they cracked (they didn't).

Perfect on my first try! I read the comments first to anticipate any bumps in the road.

I used the Ninja 4qt. 5 eggs, 17 min on the trivet at 270° (the reheat button will allow you to get under 300°). No preheat. Ice bath for 10 min. I peeled one easily and I never have luck peeling eggs! Completely cooked, no green rim. Going to refrigerate and peel the others in 2 days on Easter. Hopefully they will still be easy to peel! Thanks for the recipe. A keeper for sure.
