Why You'll Love this Recipe
Seasoned tomatoes and feta cheese get baked in the oven to create this lovely sauce and then pasta gets tossed in with it. The tomatoes burst in the oven and open up to create a wonderful tomato sauce.
It’s so easy to make that all the blocked feta cheese is sold out and hard to find. I couldn’t find ANY blocked feta cheese at any of the grocery stores I regularly shop at in ND. The blocked feta is even sold out in Findland and probably soon will be all over the US. If you can’t find blocked feta cheese don’t worry, because you can do this with crumbled feta cheese as well.
Creamy Sauce
The original recipe on Tiktok calls for adding some reserved pasta water. I made this dish extra creamy by adding in some heavy cream to it. Heavy cream is not necessary but check it out if you want to.

Ingredients for Baked Feta Pasta
- Grape Tomatoes - The tomatoes can be cut in half, left whole, or quartered. The end results will still taste the same no matter what you decide to do. If you are using a larger tomato like a Roma or beefsteak tomatoes then cut them in half or quarter so that the cooking time remains the same. Don't like tomatoes? Use other vegetables.
- Feta Cheese -Blocked feta or crumbled feta cheese can be used. I've seen people use ricotta, goat cheese, or cream cheese.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil - The original Tiktok recipe calls for ½ cup of oil but that is also a lot of points if you are following the Weight Watcher plan and if you are new here to this blog that is what I write recipes for. I used only 2 tablespoons to help lower the fat content and points for this recipe.
- Freshly Chopped Basil, Garlic, Salt, and Pepper for seasonings - can use any fresh herb that you have on hand such as basil or thyme.
- Cream - If your sauce doesn’t come out as creamy as you like it to be add in some heavy cream. This is OPTIONAL. Some chicken stock or reserved pasta water will also work.
- Parmesan Cheese - for sprinkling

Tips for Baked Pasta
The original recipe for this dish calls for reserved pasta water. Make sure to reserve the pasta water on the side if that is what you want to use instead of Heavy Cream.
To make it spicy or to add more flavor try adding some crushed red pepper flakes.
Add some chopped veggie like zucchini, asparagus, broccoli, spinach, and garlic cloves a long with the tomatoes.
Any type of noodle can be used. Penne or rigatoni works really well with.

We made this except I sauteed cutup chicken tenderloins and fresh spinach to add to it. Gonna add mushrooms too next time I make. We loved the tweaks we made definitely eating again

This was lacking depth of flavor and a disappointment in spite of the lovely ingredients. Just boring and too rich. It could use bacon, or shrimp or something. Won’t rush to make again.
Jenna says
Give it a try with a different type of cheese if you don't like feta.
Trish says
Just reinforced that I don't like baked feta. I like all the ingredients but its the baked part that doesn't do it for me but had to give it a try.
Diane Marie Cottle says
Can you use grape tomatoes?
Mary says
I'm going to make it as a APPITIZER with blue cheese and put it on Italian bread circles
Jenna says
Yes, definitely try again when tomatoes are fresh! 🙂
Jenna says
The casserole doesn't need to be covered while baking. I would have stated that in the recipe. Thanks.

I made it as directed and was just ok. These are ingredients we really like so it was a bit of a letdown. I think with more in season tomatoes ( sungolds) and fresh basil, plus some tweaking (chopped sautéed red or yellow peppers, mushrooms and maybe chive sour cream), would make it a lot better. I won’t be in a hurry to make it again, but will keep it on hand for the summer when I have better tomato options. It is a quick pretty much hands off dinner preparation.
