A good patty melt consists of decent bread, a burger patty, cheese, and caramelized onions. The hardest part of the recipe is waiting for the caramelized onions to get done. If you prep everything in advance like the patties and onions, these sandwiches can be easily made for lunch the next day. All you need to do is toast the bread.
Holy heck I posted a new recipe! Just so you know I’m still here, just been very busy updating older recipes that I should probably just be reposting on the front page when I’m done with it. I’m going to try and remember to do that from now on. My new posting schedule is Monday afternoon, so be on the lookout for any new recipes.
What you need for Patty Melts
Onions - slice the onions ahead of time to help with prep time. Make sure they are thinly sliced.
Olive oil - can also sub butter
Bread - If you are following WW always scan the bread in your grocery store to see what low point options they have. The bread I like that is 2 points a slice is Country Hearth Light Italian Bread, and I believe it is only available in the MidWest.
Ground beef - use 93% or 96% lean ground beef. Can also sub ground turkey.
Salt and pepper - to taste
Swiss cheese (thinly sliced) - Use whatever kind of cheese you have in your fridge if not go and find the Sargento thin sliced cheese. Not sponsored by them just like that they are low in points and good on sandwiches.
Reduced sugar ketchup for dipping
