Why You Will Love This Recipe

Happy Easter everyone! We all know the best part about Easter is the candy right? Just kidding! This peeps cake is so fun and easy to make and you can even get your kids involved in the decorating. The pastel M&M's and Peeps marshmallows are just so gosh darn cute, aren't they?

There was a cake at my grocery store that inspired me to make this. The cake was a two-layer cake with marshmallow peeps around it and M&M's on top. They wanted 20.00 for the cake too, and my only thought was that is way too expensive! I made this cake for under 10.00 using boxed cake mix. Hope you like it!

Do any of you go to the grocery store the day after a Holiday to get discounted candy? Sometimes I do, but then again that leaves me with temptations in the house and I don't want to be eating a whole bag of candy.

What Ingredients do I need for Peeps Cake?

    • Cake Mix  -  1 15.25oz box of any color or flavor of cake mix. The edges will get decorated with marshmallow peeps candy so it really doesn't matter what you use!
    • Frosting - I used white frosting but cream cheese frosting or even chocolate frosting will be good.
    • Pastel Peeps  - These are only available around Easter time and can be found at many grocery stores in the Holiday candy or places like Wal-Mart or Target
    • M&M’s - Only use pastel colors!
    • See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

    How to make Peeps Cake

Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions, using two parchment-lined and greased 9-in. round baking pans. Cool in pans 10 minutes before removing to wire racks; remove the paper. Cool completely.

Spread white frosting between layers and over top and sides of cake.

Arrange bunny peeps around the side of the cakes alternating different colors.

On the top layer spread the pastel M&M’s all over the top. Slice into 8 equal pieces and enjoy.

    Best Baking Tips

    • Room temperature butter is key, let it sit out on the counter for a couple of hours before baking. You can replace the oil in the cake with softened butter.
    • Read the recipe over a few times before baking or look up videos to see how it’s done properly.
    • Get an Oven Thermometer - Not every oven is the same. Keep an oven thermometer inside to make sure the oven is at the proper temperature. Wondering why your cookies or baked goods didn’t get done? This might be the reason why.
    • Don’t peek at whatever is baking in the oven! This lets out warm air.
    • Always combine the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl and the dry ingredients in another bowl. Slowly incorporate them together.
