A flat top griddle works very well for steak because the surface stays evenly heated. This helps the steak develop a rich crust while keeping the inside juicy.

Some benefits of cooking steak on a Blackstone include:

    • even heat across the griddle surface
    • great caramelized crust on the steak
    • plenty of space to cook multiple steaks

Best Cuts of Steak for a Blackstone

Several types of steak work well on a flat top griddle. Choose cuts that have good marbling so they stay tender and flavorful.

    Popular choices include:

    • ribeye - I really like to use the Aldi grassfed Ribeye Steaks!
    • New York strip
    • sirloin
    • filet mignon

Ingredients Needed for Steak on the Blackstone Griddle

    • 1 pound ribeye steak (1 to 2 inches in thickness)
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon sea salt
    • ยฝ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

    How to Make Blackstone Steak

Step 1 Season the Steak: In a large mixing bowl or on a plate, toss the steak with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if using. Make sure the steak is evenly coated with these ingredients.

Seasoned steak with salt and pepper.

Step 2 Preheat the Blackstone Griddle: Set your Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat. Allow it to preheat for about 5-10 minutes until it reaches a temperature of around 375-400ยฐF (190-200ยฐC).

Step 3 Grill the Steak: Place the seasoned steak on the hot griddle in a single layer. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the steak is tender and has a nice char. The exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of the steak.

Serve: Transfer the grilled steak to a serving platter and enjoy immediately. It's a perfect side dish for any grilled meats, poultry, or fish.

Best Seasonings and Marinades for Blackstone Steak

Steak cooked on a Blackstone griddle does not need many ingredients, but seasoning or marinades can add even more flavor.

Simple steak seasoning - A classic seasoning works very well for most steaks is just a simple combo of kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder

Season the steak generously on both sides about 30 minutes before cooking or right before placing it on the griddle.

Steak Marinade - A marinade can add extra flavor and tenderness. All you need is olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper

Let the steak marinate in the refrigerator for 2 to 8 hours. Pat the steak dry before cooking so it forms a good crust on the griddle.

    Steak Doneness Guide

Use a thermometer if possible to check doneness.

    • Rare: 120 to 125ยฐF
    • Medium rare: 130 to 135ยฐF
    • Medium: 140 to 145ยฐF
    • Medium well: 150 to 155ยฐF

    How do I store leftovers?

Always store leftovers in clean, food-grade containers. The type of container doesnโ€™t really matter. Use zip lock, glass, plastic,  whatever!  Make sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container.
