Candy cane blossoms are like the famous peanut butter blossom cookie. A basic sugar cookie dough is used and a Candy Cane Hersey’s kiss is placed on top. You can roll the cookie dough in some festive red and green sugar if you desire for the Holidays. Very versatile to switch up for other Holidays as well.

    Candy Cane Blossoms

Do you have your Christmas baking list all planned out yet? Why not add these candy cane blossom cookies to your list? One thing I always struggle with is trying not to eat all the candy before making the cookies. Candy Cane Hershey kisses are my favorite flavor of all the Hershey kiss flavors out there next to the caramel filled ones. They come out to stores around Thanksgiving time and I was really surprised to find these at Aldi while shopping one day. I was like score because I knew I had to update this post. You can find these at other stores like Target or Wal-Mart if you don’t have an Aldi.

I like my Hershey kiss kind of melty and gooey on the top and the directions call for placing the kiss directly on top of the cookie after they come out of the oven. If you do that right away they start to melt.

What do I need to make Candy Cane Blossoms?

    • 1 bag Hershey’s Kisses brand Candy Cane Kisses
    • ½ cup butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • ÂĽ teaspoon salt
    • ÂĽ teaspoon baking soda
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • Red and Green colored sugar

Beat butter, sugar, vanilla, and egg in large bowl until well blended. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add alternatively with milk to butter mixture, beating until well blended.

Bake 8 - 1o minutes or until edges are lightly browned and cookies is set. Remove from oven; cool 2 to 3 minutes. Press candy piece into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Yields approximately 35 cookies.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in red and/or green colored sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Tips for Candy Cane Blossom Cookies

Since this recipe is a basic sugar cookie recipe you could definitely save some time making these at home by using store-bought cookie dough.

Use a tablespoon-sized ice cream scoop to get the perfect cookie size every time.

You could try. I do not work with sugar substitutes because I'm allergic to them.

Do you think using a sugar alternative like Monkfruit sweetener would work in place of the sugar?

Yum! I make something like this all the time during the holidays but its with regular Hershey kisses. Something about that cookie just puts a smile on my face! Everybody else that makes it always does it w/ peanut butter cookies, but I like it w/ sugar cookies!
