    cheese curd burger 005

This burger was inspired by a burger that I had at Lucky 13's in Fargo, ND. The burger is ridiculous too. It was topped with cheese curds and crispy ham. I could feel my arteries clogging when eating it too.  Who doesn't love cheese curds? They're my favorite thing to get at the fair, and to put them on top of burger, with some crispy ham? MMmm, this burger was the size of my head and I felt like I was Guy Fieri trying to eat a bite of it on Food Network. I couldn't get my mouth around the whole thing.  At least the lettuce is healthy, right?

How to make a Cheesecurd Burgers

To print the full recipe please see the recipe card below.

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate. Butter each half of hamburger buns.

Place the ham slices in a heavy skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until golden brown on each side.  Remove the ham and set it aside.

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees and air fry the frozen cheese curds for 4 to 8 minutes.

Mix ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, and steak seasoning together in a large bowl; do not overmix. Form into 4 patties. Make a thumbprint in the middle of each patty to keep it from shrinking as it cooks.

Grill patties on the preheated grill until preferred doneness, about 6 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).

Place buns on the grill, buttered-side down, and cook until browned, about 1 minute. Remove from the grill. Place 1 patty on the bottom half of each bun.

Top the burgers with lettuce, ham, cheese curds,  and remaining buns.

The bun at Lucky 13's was just a plain old hamburger bun. I decided to use a pretzel bun for this.
