This post was recently updated with some helpful information to help you get the perfect taquito. 3/23/2020.
Buffalo Chicken Taquitos is one of my popular recipes on this site and it has been for a very long time! It’s basically a taquito with buffalo chicken dip in the middle of it.
The recipe below says to make the buffalo chicken mixture in a bowl and that works as well, but another main way I make my buffalo chicken dip is on a stovetop with some canned chicken, cream cheese, and cheddar. I just let all the ingredients combine together until they are heated through and then roll them up in tortillas.
Can taquitos be made in the air fryer?
Yes, buffalo chicken taquitos can be made in the air fryer! Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees and air fry them for 7 to 10 minutes.
Here is the basic rundown of what is needed for this dish. I’ve also included substitutes that can be used if you do not have any of these items. The points for these buffalo chicken taquitos will vary greatly depending on what brand tortilla you use! My favorite tortillas are La Banderita or Frescados. So yes, it is possible if you plug in the ingredients to your recipe builder you might get a different point option than what I have listed.
Cream Cheese – Neufchatel or Fat-free can be used.
Buffalo Sauce – Do not skip this! Franks is the best.
Chicken – There are many methods for making shredded chicken. You can do it in an Instant Pot or Slow Cooker and add the buffalo sauce or use rotisserie shredded chicken. Canned chicken can also be used.
Low Point Tortilla Options

Fat Free Soft Taco Tortillas – 2 points
Frescados Taco Style Tortillas – 2 points
How to make Buffalo Chicken Taquitos
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Mix cream cheese and buffalo sauce until well combined. The cream cheese needs to be at room temperature. If you want to make this right away I will sometimes put the cream cheese in the microwave for no longer than a minute and let it soften that way.
Stir in chicken and cheddar until well combined.
Place 2-3 Tablespoons of mixture spread into a thin line onto the center of flour tortilla.
Lightly grease a cookie sheet and repeat for remaining taquitos.
Once taquitos are arranged on cookie sheet, lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
Bake at 425 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until taquitos are golden brown.
Serving size: 1 taquito
What makes this a WW recipe?
On WW there is no food off-limits and everything is on the table. That is why I love this program so much. So, Let’s stop telling ourselves that we can’t eat certain foods on WW.
How does Weight Watchers work?
Each recipe or food has a Smart Points value. This is calculated using calories, saturated fat, protein, and sugar. It is best to stay away from foods that are loaded with saturated fat and sugar on the plan because those foods are higher in points. When you register with Weight Watchers you are given a daily set of points to target based on your age, gender, height, and activity level. Think of it as an easier way to track your macros.
