Give your burgers a little twist this Summer with some Jerk seasoning and a grilled pineapple on top. You will automatically be transported to a tropical island without the expensive plane tickets! 🙂
When I was vacationing in Jamaica, I stayed at an all-inclusive resort and there was a bar in the middle of the pool area outside. You could stay in the pool all day long and sip on cocktails and eat delicious Jerk burgers with fries. The burgers were super good and spicy and anyone can make these at home with some homemade Jerk seasoning.

Grilled pineapple is a must on these burgers but if you’re not into that or if fresh pineapple is not in season, use tomatoes. Just giving you options here. I didn't have any pineapple on hand when I made these and wish I had some. Next time I make these I will definitely add pineapple and take new pictures. Please use fresh pineapple and not the pineapple from the can. So much better. Cook the pineapple slices on the grill while the burgers are cooking and they will come together in no time.
Serve with some waffle fries on the side.
How to make Grilled Jerk Burgers
Preheat a grill to medium-high.
Mix the cold ground beef, seasoning, and garlic cloves in a medium bowl.
Form ground beef into 6-ounce patties and make an indentation in each.
Season the patties on both sides with salt and pepper.
Lightly brush the grill grates with vegetable oil, then grill the patties, indentation-side up, until marked on the bottom, about 5 minutes.
Flip and cook until marked and slightly firm, about 3 more minutes for medium doneness.
While the burgers are grilling, grill the pineapple slices for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until heated through and grill marks appear.
For Jerk cheeseburgers, top with 1 slice of pepper jack cheese during the last minute of cooking; cover the grill to melt.
Mix the mayo and minced garlic together in a bowl.
Serve the burgers with a grilled pineapple ring, garlic aioli sauce, and lettuce.
Jerk Seasoning
I mentioned above that you can make your own Jerk seasoning at home and store in a glass jar or ziplock bag for grilling season. It requires a few spices that you probably already have in your pantry such as onion powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder. Allspice and ground nutmeg are the exotic spices used here and those can be found in just about every grocery store. You can also buy a pre-made jerk seasoning as well.
Air Fryer Burger Instructions:
If you wish to make these burgers in your air fryer, here are the instructions!
In a large bowl combine beef, garlic, and jerk seasoning. Shape into 4 patties and flatten into a 4” circle. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Place 2 patties in air fryer and cook at 375° for 4 minutes per side, for medium. Remove and immediately top with a slice of cheese. Repeat with the remaining 2 patties.
Some air fryers will start smoking if you cook patties in them. In order to prevent this, just add a little bit of water to the bottom of the air fryer.
